She didn't want to bother him, but at the same time she knew he had to be in the same type of situation as she was. Of course if he was as lost as she was he probably wouldn't be much help. But he was the only one that didn't look like everyone else. It was worth a shot.
She makes her way up to the man and gives a polite smile. "Hello Sir." She wasn't sure what else to say. She didn't want to assume anything about him. Besides if he was from around here he would ignore her like the rest of the people.

She glances around feeling a bit awkward, because it seemed she might be bothering the man. He sounded tired. Maybe he knew she was going to ask him about the place and he was tired of answering that question. Or he could be having a bad day. She doesn't stand too close to him, and tries to avoid smelling any of the smoke from his cigarette.

He turns back to Belle, "You're not bothering me," he says while placing the boxes and the lighter in the inside pocket of his trench coat. I'm lost too, I can't help you," saying those words in his mind again, he realizes that he sounded harsher than he intended. "Where are you from?" He asks her with more warmth to make up for his snark reply.

"I live in France." She looks around a bit. "Just outside a very small town." She wasn't sure why she added that detail and not that she lived in an enormous castle. But that hardly seemed important at the moment. Besides that, she didn't know the man or any of the people around her. In all the books it's the princesses that get captured first, and though she wanted adventure, getting captured wasn't one she particularly wanted to live out.
She looked at the man. He seemed nice enough. At least he was talking to her. And eventhough he was lost and probably not in a good mood he was trying to be nice. She was happy with that.
