I could go on about how the US Congress caved when it passed the FISA bill legalizing wiretapping on international communications to the USA and how surprised I was that Obama decided to vote for it after saying last year that he would filibuster it. (donate to the EFF or ACLU to help stop the madness as they sue the government.) I could wonder at ( Read more... )

nope - I had no idea. Thanks for the education. That article seemed really thin on evidence and I don't know how much to trust it. I thought it was interesting though.

Yeah, gadgets are cool, but those that involve giving money to a corporation that has done so much to spy on and oppress me ?---not so cool.
I'm willing to give a pittance a month in the form of a landline from SBC to have hardline access to 911, but that's about it. So, no iPhone for me, alas. Maybe if I could get it on a different carrier, but for now, no.

1. Also, though, shelves like the Wilkins can (some do, not sure about that particular one) help sort of hold back land glaciers, and if they melt, the land glaciers slide a bit faster into the sea, where they do contribute to sea rise.
