I could go on about how the US Congress caved when it passed the FISA bill legalizing wiretapping on international communications to the USA and how surprised I was that Obama decided to vote for it after saying last year that he would filibuster it. The news of late has been horrifying and also somewhat heartening. Paraphrasing zyrc's earlier post, I no longer can see the United States of America that I was taught about in middle school.
