[Eventually, whether she notices his arrival or not, there's going to be a sort of blue demon thing crouched up on op of the swing set's frame.]

Wow, you look bummed.

[Very clever, derailing things like that. Having his own mother issues, he finds this to be a little... suspicious.]

Just a little. Have you met a lot of them?

No! You're my FIRST blue person! [Like this is some Big Deal, Kurt. And clearly this has roused her somewhat out of that funk.]

[That earns a laugh.] I'm always everyone's first blue person. [Well, there's Bil, but he's a jerkface that doesn't count.]

Pffft. Now you're just being modest.

[And Rapunzel has yet to meet Bil.]

Well... actually, there's not many blue people where I'm from. Only two others, really.

[His mother... and then there's Beast. Blue is a popular color for mutants.]

There's none where I'm from. [Just mother. And herself. And Flynn, after she stuffed him in her closet.]

It's a nice color blue. It reminds me of the sky, right before a storm.

[Well, that's a new one. Not many people comment on his color, much less like that.]

Hey now, I thought I was supposed to be laying on the flattery here.

[She's an artist who has been locked in a bland stone tower for her whole life. She likes color.]

Mother says that you can't trust boys who flatter you.

[Mother basically says you can't trust ANYONE.]

[There's that mother thing again. Though actually that's pretty practical advice.]

Ahh, but did she say anything about fuzzy blue elves? Because I'm one of the good guys. So you can totally trust me when I say all those nice things about you.

Maybe she was saving the talk about fuzzy blue elves for when I got older...

[And Rapunzel is saying that in all seriousness.]

[He can't tell if she IS serious or just really good at acting it.]

Older? Well how old are you now? [He knows you don't ask that sort of thing of a girl, but... this is a special case.]

Seventeen? Really close to being eighteen, though. They brought me here right before my eighteenth birthday.

Aha! Have you made plans to celebrate it? [We'll get back to this 'when she's older' thing in a bit.]

Yes! Flynn promised to take me to see the lanterns. They always fly high into the sky on the evening of my birthday! It's...it's something I've always wanted to do, ever since I first noticed them.
