This is officially no longer a joke. Five minutes ago I got up to go to the coffee station. On the way I reached back to tuck my silk shirt into my skirt at the back, because it’s slippery and keeps coming out. My hand went through the back of my skirt where my zip should have been. I feel your pain. That's terrible. But, the truth is, if you felt the need to tuck your blouse in, and that was the first time you felt the gap, then the zip had probably only given up just recently. (fingers crossed)

Both excellent suggestions, and yes, that does make me feel better. And I have to say, I am not the only one this happens to. A friend of mine told me about her first day as a reporter at a major newspaper - she was walking through the office and getting stared at by the overwhelmingly male staff - and her wrap skirt fell off. Not just untied, off. It lay there on the ground behind her and she had to dive to recover it. After that, I suppose nothing can ever embarrass you again. I have yet to attain such exalted depths of humiliation, for which I am profoundly thankful.
