Ahhh, so everything was Jack's idea! I hadn't considered that possibility, but the setup does seem to be there ...

And fic that comes with art; can't get much better than that. :-)

I think Jack and Hector are still underestimating Will, although Jack is starting to update that. It's a generation thing - to them he's Bootstrap's Baby.
But in this case, yes, it was almost all Jack's idea. Someone clearly sends Beckett at least one body-onna-barrel before the one that has Will with it. Maybe Will popped in and out of the brig several times, but that still wouldn't explain why the bodies were still lying about for him to use.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Of course you can friend me!

Yes, I finally spotted the Hector overboard moment when I was watching the scenes for this story. You're right - he almost went in head first then, didn't he? Which would have been embarrassing.

I also love Hector's eye-rolling. One of the many things that draws me to Jack/Barbossa as a relationship (with or without slash) is all the little moments when you see that, however different they are, however much they might distrust or hate each other, they understand one another better than anyone else understands either of them. Speaking of which, did you see geekmama recently wrote two lovely Jack'n'Barbs drabbles?

Jack sitting on each other's laps in the boat is my second favorite moment of the whole fic. I love the whole thing in all sorts of ways, though. I love how you notice things about canon that I'd seen too but never managed to put into words. Like this:

His good eye goes misty at the thought. “There’s even cheese. An’ plum duff.”

Because one of the things about being a zombie for ten years is that afterwards you have this special fetish for appreciation of your dinner. Barbossa can't be the only one.

This is my hands-down favorite moment, out of a story composed of excellent moments:

“Reckon we should give the next’un to Sammy there, Pint, or leastways keep ’im away from Rex. Rex guzzled almost that whole marine an’ Sammy’s only ’ad an arm or two at most.”

“That is Sammy, ya great pillock. Rex is over there to the lee of Spot.”

“Nah! The one to the lee of Spot ain’t Rex. Rex is more bluish. That’d be Daisy.”

“You can’t name a shark Daisy!”

“Why not? Some of ’em has to be girls or how’d they, you know… procreate?”Did ( ... )

Thank you! I'm stuck here with a cold and your comments really cheered me up!

Did you write this deliberately as fanservice to make me happy?
Kind of!
I wrote it because the first draft ended with Jack's return to the Pearl and it really wasn't enough. And I needed someone for Jack to talk to about those ridiculous piles of bodies they leave lying around the ship. Who better than your favourite boys?
Once I decided to put Rags and Pint in, of course I thought of you straight away! One of your selves was beta-reading over my shoulder as I wrote that bit. You are the queen of Rags'n'Pint. It means a lot to me that you liked it.

“I’m Captain Jack Sparrow!” Jack concludes, because Beckett seems genuinely unsure and, frankly, he’s beginning to have doubts himself.

Okay, I literally put my head down on my desk and laughed like crazy for about 7 minutes after reading this because while I totally understood what they were going for in the film, it seems to me that it landed just short of the mark and the take Jack does here is just a perfect representation of how I felt. Thanks for that!

For an awful moment, Jack thinks Beckett can see the others. Then he realises “friends” means the rest of the pirates. heh heh Poor Jack. Um..Jacks. Um...Jack?

Love the mad scurry of all the Jack's to prepare to launch themselves off the Endeavor and back to the Pearl. You know, I never questioned until now how one Jack would have had the time to do all that in the few precious seconds alotted him in the film. Thank goodness for all the others pitching in and helping him -- nicely filled plot hole, love! *g*

Cutler bloody Beckett. Ahhh, I can just hear Johnny saying it.

Filling plotholes was very much something I was trying to do with this one - trying to twist AWE into the shape I want it to be. Invincible, cartoon Jack really annoys me - I want him to be taking real risks not just Tom and Jerry risks. Somehow, Jack finding a way to turn multiple self insanity to his advantage is something I can live with more happily. Though I admit I'm not entirely sure of the mechanisms involved.
