on Facebook now

Yup, I'm on Facebook -- Emily set the account up for me yesterday. I'm primarily going to use it as a tool in promoting my writing, which I hope to have good, promotable news about sometime this year. I suppose I should go ahead and post my columns there too, shouldn't I? That'll give me something to talk about in between novel submissions. I'm ( Read more... )

I so need to get past my fear of the Facebook and do what you did.

I hope the parade goes well!

Oh, so it's *not* just me dealing with the fear of Facebook!

The parade went really well -- it rained all day, sprinkled while we were setting up, then stayed cool and dry all through the parade and the festival afterward. That's as close to perfect weather as we get during fair week!

:) It's a teacher thing. I had my real name on there but this year I changed it because a friend of mine had her account hacked by a 12 year old and the kid's mom printed out photos of her drinking (having 1 beer at a baseball game - nothing bad) sent them to the school and demanded my friend be fired. She did not lose her job but it shook her up and the advice from her principal was to just use a different name on Facebook, so I do that.

Sounds like a wise precaution. Still, I can't help wondering: What business is it of that mom that your friend had a beer while she wasn't at work? Why isn't it the mother getting in trouble, for not controlling her 12 year old and actually supporting the behavior of hacking into other people's accounts? That's way worst than having a beer at a baseball game, which as I understand it is something almost all sports goers do. Sounds like mom had an ax to grind.

Oh good! I'm not on Facebook often, but I'm there. I'll friend you.

If it wasn't almost noon, I'd probably drive down to Albion to see the parade and watch you marshalling grandly. As it is, I'm still in pjs, lazing about and thinking about driving up to Niles to see a movie. (We have much bigger theaters in Mishawaka but I just discovered the Wonderland and love it. Two adult matinee tickets, two large drinks, a medium popcorn, one hotdog - $14.50. Seriously.)

Hey look - we're already friended! Cool!

(And I forgot to add about the Wonderland - it's first run movies. We saw Terminator there last Saturday.)

I'm fast on the trigger, there! :-)

I was going to say that the drive-in was the only place around here where you can get in for that kind of a price. The Strand in Kendallville is a pretty good baragain, but you're still edging toward $20 by the time the snacks are bought. Personally I love the drive-in, although I have trouble finding anyone to go with me these days.

Wow -- great price for the movies!!!

I can't say I marshalled grandly -- but at least I didn't get rained on!
