This would be a great way to start Oz 2.0 I wished so much that more would have been focused on this pairing before the end. Great story!

Thank you!

It was strange because I'd forgotten that Torquemada was only in two episodes of the show. Like Dino Ortolani, he made quite the impact in a short time.

Very nice! I love that moment in Oz when we're introduced to Torquemada, strutting down the hall into Em City's Commons, with the other gays following in his footsteps. I love the idea of him running Oz. And I like that your Miguel is, more or less, at peace (as much as he can be, given the circumstances).

P.S. Poor Beecher. :(

Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

Miguel gets a raw deal so often that it was nice to cut him some slack here and have Alonzo evolve into more or less a protector/mentor for him.

I started to work with this quote 3 different times - the first with season 3 Adebisi after Said joins him, the second with McManus taking over as warden, and then this popped into my head. It made a nice companion piece to the other story with the two bookending the Oz experience and featuring characters that created an impression in such a small amount of time.

PS- Beecher will be ok. I'm sure Sister Pete will have him in her appointment book the moment he sets foot in Oz.

I like how you captured how hard -- sooo hard -- it would be for Miguel to return to Oz; this would be his third time going through those gates, coupled with the parole board's promise that he's never, ever getting out. Eeesh.

Nice job giving him something (someone?) to live for, and as smooth a transition back as possible. Good things for Miguel!! Yes. ;)

I hope for good things for Miguel. He's been given a raw deal and I can see where a new start in Lardner would be a positive for him.

Not sure about his future with Torquemada, but it's good for them to have someone they (kind of) trust.
