I got an email yesterday that The Mars Volta would be playing in Petaluma on August 9th at the Phoenix, and that tickets would be going on sale today. Since they've gotten bigger, I'd kinda given up on seeing them, because lately all they've been playing have been arena shows (opening for bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down

Yeah it was crazy hot. Our pool got up to 90 degrees, and we dont have a pool heater.

The Phoenix is an awesome place for shows and the fact that they're headlining is just going to make it that more awesome.

I'm totally excited for it.

I've actually never been to The Phoenix, but my friend Natalye grew up going there and it's actually where she met her husband.

And yeah, the fact they're headlining is awesome ... and so far I haven't found any information about openers (and the tickets were listed as "An Evening with The Mars Volta"), so I'm wondering if it's just going to be them.

Oh, and I got an advance of their new album, too.
