agreed agreed agreed - although i had never thought about the boys not talking about not-benny before, which is interesting. i think it's sort of the point as well, because they are all drawn together entirely because of her, and wouldn't like to be, but it is a bit lazy

But. I do agree. Actually, there's a part in The Crystal of Cantus of which I am immensely fond. It basically amounts to Brax going, "You know, I love Benny, but my God she is egocentric and she is totally convinced everything is always about her."

(And then it turns out everything is about her. Which is what makes it so damn hard for them to past the Bedchel Test. I was just massively relieved when Adrian and Beverly started dating. Which, in books, made Benny start getting grouchy, because Braxiatel also took Bev on as his right-hand at that point, so she was all "JASON EVERYONE IS REPLACING MEEEEEE" and Jason was "...Benny. Seriously. I am the universe's buttmonkey in this series and you are complaining because Adrian is moving on and Brax is using Bev as a thief/hitman/assistant?")
