I'm so glad I'm not alone! (Sorry about the late response - this week hasn't left me much LJ/fannish time - I haven't even seen the latest episode yet!)
I like Clarice and Shay together. The only problem is that every time Shiri Appleby says a verb ending in -ing, I'm thrown back to my Roswell days and remember how much she annoyed me with those 'G's
Ah, I loved her in Roswell. Though, oddly, not enough to actually watch the series all the way through. I've never managed to get past the middle of season 2, even though I've deliberately stayed unspoiled and keep meaning to finish it!
It wasn't even the characters but the ending 'Gs', maybe because English isn't my first language, and that's one of the things I had to watch out for when I spoke.
Still, I like her on Chicago Fire and I hope she sticks around.
Ha! I see now you'd thought about the babysitting already!
I want Shay to be happy so if that's with Clarice I'll reluctantly accept her (I'm still not quite over the impression she left on me in the previous episodes).
On the other hand (and I'm sure this isn't just my ambivalence towards Dawson speaking), wtf is Dawson doing with Peter Mills and Casey. Talk about trying to have your cake and eat it too! Yep. Not good at all. And she knows it, otherwise she wouldn't have looked back the way she did to check where Mills was when Casey asked her out to breakfast.
I know this isn't the best TV show around, but damn, I am so invested in these characters! Yes, that's exactly it for me too. I pretty much love all of them.
I did not think that Ernie storyline would end that way either. I was just...normally I am very vocal when watching CF, I talk a LOT to the TV. But this time I was too stunned for words. And god, at the end, when Boden goes to see his son and the kid is like, "Dad," and then throws himself into Boden's arms. Just...my heart
( ... )
I was a bit bemused as to why Boden's ex-wife was so resistant to him seeing his (step-)son - the boy obviously adores him, and it's mutual, and I can't imagine anyone considering Boden a bad influence or anything. Maybe we'll find out more (or maybe we have already - I haven't seen this week's episode yet).
So Shay wakes up in the middle of the night and the baby isn't in the crib and Shay stumbles downstairs, half asleep, to find Severide sitting on the couch, feeding the baby a bottle, and talking to it in soft soothing tones about all this technical fireman training stuff. It's a lovely image in my head. Especially the part where Shay stands in the corner unseen and just smiles fondly at them.
YES PLEASE!!!!!
I liked Renee, but it all felt too rushed between them - Severide moving to a new country with her when he'd only known her a few weeks seemed a bit crazy, and doomed to failure. If they'd made it a slower romance, and then got to the stage where he was considering leaving with her, I'd have been more torn about it.

Me too. I thought there must be bad blood between him and the kid for some reason, like Boden was a deadbeat dad (hard to believe) or something, but obvs the kid has been missing Boden just as much so seriously, what is the mom's deal? That's not a healthy thing to do to your kid.
YES PLEASE!!!!!
Have you seen last week's episode yet? Severide is killing my ovaries. ;)

Well, I kind of thought it was doomed for failure anyways, but it did seem like a rash bold Severide kind of thing to do, even if I didn't expect it to last. Oh well, we all know where his heart truly belongs (read: the fire house or Casey's bed, either way).
I've seen the last episode, yes - everything I could have asked for when it came to Severide!
Hopefully we'll find out what's going on with Boden and his ex. I just hope it involves Boden being able to spend more time with the kid - seems to me they'd both benefit from it.
I really enjoyed Otis' storyline this week too. And you can count me in on the whole Clarice/Shay thing! Totally agree with you about Dawson messing with both Peter Mills and Casey. Girl needs to choose already. This is pretty shady behaviour!

Wow, I'm so late getting back to this post, and I haven't seen the last episode yet - I really need to catch up with fannish things this weekend!

That's okay. Go catch up and then when you've seen the episode, have a look at the pictures I posted last night :D

I have to confess, I couldn't quite resist looking at those pics before I saw the episode (I've just seen it now) - sometimes I lack self-control!
