I loved that it was clear just how concerned Chief Boden was about Ernie, not just for what he might do if he is an arsonist, but for him as a boy.

Hermann's family holding back Thanksgiving was great.

I wish I could like Dawson more - I suspect it's a combination of the actress and her various storylines that just make me really struggle with her. And if I don't like a character, I'm less likely to give them the benefit of the doubt if they do something I have mixed feelings about!

I did wonder for a moment if Hallie was about to say she couldn't have children. Though I guess I can empathise with her, as I've been in a similar position to her.

I wasn't sure who were regular characters and who were guest stars, so I'm really glad to hear Hallie is a regular.

The injury storyline is going on far longer than I expected, but I'm kind of loving the crazy tension coming from it! Though I do desperately want him to get help!

And it was wonderful to see a bit more of Chief Boden´s background, although it made me a bit sad. Eammon Walker is a great actor.

For me, I am finding very difficult to dislike any of the characters here, and that is very unusual. I like Hallie and I empathize with her, but I don´t know why I have the feeling they are setting up a meaty storyline, the mentions of the family meeting at the club, the nosy sister, the different backgrounds.... makes me wonder.
And I for a moment thought the same, that she couldn´t have children.

My favorite is Casey, and I guess it must be the actor´s charisma because I keep thinking he can be paired with even a chair and have chemistry!

Love to read your thoughts!

I would love to have seen more of Hallie's family - we're getting background on so many of the characters, but I'm just greedy for more all the time!

Very unusually for me, as he's not an obvious character for me to like, my favourite is Severide. But I like just about all of them. And I love the relationships we've got here, Peter and Elise as siblings, Severide and Shay as friends, the teams, Chief Boden as boss and friend to the guys, Otis and the goat shield. *g*

It's nice chatting to someone about the show!

Otis' podcast was sentimental, sure, but the sincerity shone through. He's rapidly becoming one of my favourites.

Oh, Otis is brill. But--though he spoke of two families, did he ever mention/speak to his actual family in the episode? I don't think so. That seemed more tragic to me than anything else, really.

well-meaning or not, getting rid of Clarice like that was butting in on something that wasn't her business.

I was rooting for Dawson at that juncture, but I see your point.

Haha, I went on a fairly long spiel about Casey/Hallie in my journal, but I do hold out a tiny hope that they'll manage to work things out somehow. Whatever the outcome is, I hope Hallie's decision is respected for what it is. There are already people berating her for just not "having Casey's babies already" and that's just... I find it very uncomfortable.

I hoped that with Casey's life back on track, he'd see what was going on with Severide and try to help himME TOO! Casey does have a tendency to get very self-absorbed when it comes to his personal life ( ... )

Huh, I hadn't noticed that. But yeah, now you mention it, Otis is one of the few whose family we haven't seen any glimpse of. I hope it's just something to come, not a sign that he doesn't have family. Weirdly, I just wrote a little Otis podcast comment fic for a friend, and I touched on family in that, but without really pondering who he might have.

I *want* to like Dawson more, and I keep trying to, but she keeps rubbing me up the wrong way! I'm hoping that as the season goes on, she'll grow on me.

More depth to Cruz this episode - we hadn't seen much of him before.
Yes! I can't believe I forgot to mention him in my post because I really enjoyed seeing a bit more of him.

Naming the turkey!
The piss guy! Hee!

(I'm still a bit sad about Shay and Severide fighting. She's totally right. But I'm a bit sad about it anyway.)

I was glad Cruz changed his mind about calling the turkey Leon!

And yes, Shay and Severide on the outs is sad - she's in such a tough position, and Severide needs to wake up to what he's doing to her as well as to himself.

I'm delighted as well that they've made this more about the characters than the calls. I love watching them work for the dynamics between them but I like that we aren't being asked to care about more people who we're unlikely to ever see again ( ... )

Yes, this show hasn't taken the direction I thought it might, and I'm glad of that. I guess it's giving us a feel for the fact that for them, it's just one rescue after another, do one, move on to the next ( ... )
