He seems so tough, but he's getting it from all sides, and now Peter's back, he's got to be feeling scared, however well he hides it!

Guh, this is just so satisfying, the perfect follow-up to Party Guessed. You write Derek exactly the way I see him; I do think there's a bit more hurt-wary-sad-lonely young man than there is power-hungry Alpha in him (I've just started reading the companion novel, 'On Fire' and... yeah. *sniff*). This was heart-breaking and soooo easy to imagine as canon:
He holds a mug to Derek's mouth, and Derek drinks. Hot chocolate. It's good. Unfamiliar, because it's been years. He was a kid with a family last time he drank hot chocolate. He swallows.
And your Stiles is pitch-perfect, too. I love that boy, lol. I especially love the way he takes an already awkward situation - stripping Derek and showering him off - and makes it even more awkward with his babbling! And that is so, so true to show-Stiles; spot on. :D
I am literally beaming right now! (We share a fandom again!!!) <3 <3 <3

I'd no idea there was a companion novel! I've just checked, and it's not been released in the UK yet, but I can get a US copy on Amazon, so I might just do that - would you recommend it?

The thing is, we're hardly ever seeing his point of view on the show. We get to see Stiles' and Scott's and Lydia's and Allison's point of view, but not so much Derek's. But I think, judging by the way this season is going, we might be going to see him really struggling. Things aren't looking good for him!

I should probably read a bit more before I rec it wholeheartedly -- I'm just getting started. Though, if you trust Ivy's opinion, she's already finished it and said that it's "not great literature or anything but very entertaining and a fun, quick read". :) She knows I like spoilers, so she told me about a few little bits in the book concerning young Derek, and it made me happy because it's just the way I'd imagined him being as a teenager. <3 ( ... )

Okay, what do I have to do to get you to finish your Danny/Stiles story? And the artwork, because just the preview is gorgeous - the tenderness of the way they're holding each other makes me ache - and I so want to see the finished version! I'm not above begging!!!
I feel so stupid about the opening of this fic though - I was just looking through Stiles' quotes, and he actually said something about 'hurting a hair on Lydia's head' as a threat. I thought I'd written something new, but clearly I must have seen the quote somewhere and remembered it. :-(
Hahaha, yes, I've seen that bit of the blooper reel you're talking about! Oh, boys!
