*preens* Then emailing you was quite possibly the best, most productive thing I've done in a long while. *g*

I should probably read a bit more before I rec it wholeheartedly -- I'm just getting started. Though, if you trust Ivy's opinion, she's already finished it and said that it's "not great literature or anything but very entertaining and a fun, quick read". :) She knows I like spoilers, so she told me about a few little bits in the book concerning young Derek, and it made me happy because it's just the way I'd imagined him being as a teenager. <3

Me being me, I may never get around to writing (or at least finishing) anything for Teen Wolf! Long time ago (about halfway through S1) I'd roughed out a Danny/Stiles story, but never finished it. I'm incredibly lazy... as long as other people are writing entertaining stories, I'm content to let them do it for me. Hee! I did start some artwork (also a long time ago). It may never be finished, either, but here's a teeny tiny preview (very much wip; bodies aren't shaded, hair's not colored, etc):

Laughing at your reply to me over at AO3! Have you seen the blooper reel for S1? I have no trouble imagining a gassy Stiles (or Dylan O'Brien, at any rate). :D

I shall have to get the book, then!

Okay, what do I have to do to get you to finish your Danny/Stiles story? And the artwork, because just the preview is gorgeous - the tenderness of the way they're holding each other makes me ache - and I so want to see the finished version! I'm not above begging!!!

I feel so stupid about the opening of this fic though - I was just looking through Stiles' quotes, and he actually said something about 'hurting a hair on Lydia's head' as a threat. I thought I'd written something new, but clearly I must have seen the quote somewhere and remembered it. :-(

Hahaha, yes, I've seen that bit of the blooper reel you're talking about! Oh, boys!

I was just re-reading what I had so far on the Danny/Stiles story and there are two problems:
1) It feels so out-of-place now because the story was started when Stiles seemed (to me) more interested in Danny than Derek, and...
2) I can't quite remember now what I was working up to as far as plot/ending, lol! Shame, because I kind of liked the little bit I managed before I drifted away from it. :)

The artwork will probably eventually get finished. Maybe. ;) Looking at the tiny teaser pic, Stiles seems a bit too large (I think?) in relation to Derek (this is what happens when I try to work without a photo reference for the bodies - they come out 'stiff' and their proportions are wonky). I swear, when I started this Stiles wasn't as thin as he is now! HIs face, especially, is so much thinner than it was in S1.

Oh, I didn't think the reference to hurting a single red hair on Lydia's head was bad! If every bit of Stiles' dialogue was repeating things he's said on the show, it would have been noticeable, I think, but since the rest of his dialogue as you wrote it was unique and new and still so very 'Stiles', I think it just reinforced his characterization. The Derek/Stiles-lover in me thinks that that line also reinforces my own view of Stiles' crush on Lydia -- that after all these years, his crush on Lydia is mostly just habit. She's smart and beautiful and sassy and who wouldn't have a crush on her? But it started when he was too young to understand what, exactly, he admired so much about her, so he decided it was 'love' and now, he still worships and defends her by automatically saying things like that out of long-standing habit. Heh.

Oh, isn't that always so frustrating! I have stories like that - I started them, and I know I had a plan for them, but I put them down, and when I pick them back up, there's nothing in my head!

I think it's easy to be over-critical of our own work - it really looks good to me!

Ah, now I can pretend to myself that that's what I intended all along and it was really a very clever little hint as to his real relationship with Lydia!! But seriously, yes, that's how I see his crush on Lydia - it's habit as much as anything, and now he'd probably be just as glad to be friends with her (because he definitely cares very much about her - she's up there with Scott on the list of people to hang around hospitals waiting for!)
