Thanks kellifer_fic, shoshannagold, lemniciate and jujubinha for my pimpin' glasses. I'm putting them on for some pimpin' right now.

combat_jack is open for Generation Kill challenges and reccing and stuff!

Currently on the go, Friday Five recs (taking prompts and sign-ups), and the GK battle! I'm a proud member of the awesome Team Day. (When I signed up, we didn't even fill a single Humvee! ( Read more... )

Awe damn. I'd love to participate but the silly adult thing won't allow me to.

As for the big bang, I'm all in. I'm thinking I'll do a GK/The Pacific Crossover (GK boys in WWII)

Did you sign up?

Maybe you could email the mods about it? If you're near the age limit, they might be able to do something so you can take part.

That sounds great! I haven't watched The Pacific (I found Band of Brothers hard enough, and I've heard The Pacific is even more grueling, so I just don't think I'll be able to), but I'd still love to read it.

I haven't signed up for warbigbang yet, no. I'm still dithering. I have a story in mind to write, but I'm not sure if the timescale is too long for me - if I finish way early, it'll be so frustrating not being able to post! *g*

Hm. That's a possibility. I don't know either of the mods though I'm afraid. Oh goody. I can actually access it now! Quite excited.

Oh yeah, The Pacific was heart breaking. I don't know why but it just killed me. There were moments in BoB where I wanted to cry but in The Pacific I was nearly bawling. And seeing as how I'm going to college for Psychology to hopefully get a career in working with people going to/coming from war, especially those with PTSD, it really got to me.

Awe well perhaps you can do art then? :) Or just be a cheerleader! Though I'd love to see you write for it.

I saw you've signed up for the Battle! We're on the same team! \o/

OMG, no way could I do art for a BB - I play with photoshop sometimes, but I'm not really that arty, and I haven't drawn in ages. I suspect I'll just be an avid reader - I think I've just about talked myself out of signing up. Common sense rules!

Hah, you've left all the cons from my pov out! Like actually having to produce the story!

That's the second crossover I've heard mentioned for the challenge. I've not seen Inglourious Basterds, but I still like the sounds of it!

I think it probably is a particularly awesome fandom, because I'm taking part in the GK Battle, on team day, and our team are all helping each other out with ideas and brainstorming. It's very encouraging.

I've written stories that length, so that's not a huge issue, but I ended up not signing up. I'm going to try to finish my long GK fic before then though - it's 25K at the moment, and quite a way to go. Eeek. I keep forgetting what's already happened!

I seem to be getting more and more chicken about violence in movies, which is why I haven't seen Inglourious Basterds yet. I might see if I can get some friends to watch it on DVD with me sometime, so I have someone to hide behind!

My pros and cons are basically the same as schneestern's! :D

I love the Five recs idea--can't wait to see results. Have signed up for AU recs, and am trying hard not to sign up for your 'could be canon' prompt too!

Today I'm veering on the side of 'omg too much pressure, can't do half the things I'm trying to do anyway'. But then I do tend to write well under pressure. Argh, decisions.

I must go and check the comm and see what other prompts there are/what's been signed up for. It's really great that generation_kill is so lively now, and we've got gk_fanworks and combat_jack. It's amazing how much the fandom's grown lately.

I hope someone signs up for 'could be canon' - I love AUs like crazy, but I'm equally fond of really good canon-feeling stories.

I agree with schneestern's list of pros and cons. ;) I hope you'll sign up. :)

I saw you're far braver than me. There's a big sign-up list - it's impressive!

I think I'm just crazy. ;) I've never finished a fic that had more than 5k and now I'm doing Big Bang. This fandom makes me do crazy things, so when I saw this challenge I just couldn't resist. I think it's also the fact that I've been in SPN fandom a couple of years now (and BB is a really big thing there) and I was always like "no way I can do this". In GK fandom, I moved from that to "Hm, maybe I can do this with GK?".

I agree about the sign-up list - I'm impressed, it's huge!

At least there's a support community, and I'm sure spnroundtable has had a chat or workshop or possibly both on writing BBs - you're not alone!

I've actually written fics long enough, and I currently have an unfinished GK fic that's well over the minimum, but I've actually just realised that I enjoy writing shorter stories far more than long ones.

GO TEAM DAY!!!! \0/

Woooooooo!!!

I'm also doing WBB. Clearly my "Oh shiny let's join!" reaction trumps my brain's argument of "Dude, you're not gonna have time." *facepalm*

We have a full team now! And such a good one!

99% of the time I am way too sensible! I should probably just throw commonsense out of the window and sign up, but I'm just not reckless enough!
