Recs and icons

The lovely exsequar handheld me through the two toughest episodes of Band of Brothers, so I could finally get to explore the fandom a bit. And I'm trying to post more regularly this month, so have a few recs and some icons. More fun than thinking about the dismal state of the British government.1

I loved Band of Brothers, but at the same time, I found much of it so incredibly hard to watch, so I suspect I'll only ever be able to rewatch certain episodes.

I imagine any avid BoB reader who likes good fic will have found those stories, but I just had to rec them anyway.

It was your posts that made me knuckle down and start watching! Though then I got stuck and scared, and had to be helped through a couple of episodes with a list of times when I needed to look away, so it took me a long time to watch it all.

Weirdly, though, although I like the idea of Nixon/Winters, I'm finding it mostly hard to read - I don't even know why. I want to read slash in the fandom, and I have read that one story I read, but I just keep shying away from it, a few sentences in. I need to get past that!

So, when are you going to watch Generation Kill, huh?!!!

Awe Band of Brothers is a lovely mini-series. Truly fantastic. I actually watched it all on VCR so haha, I had a really... old school vibe to it. I felt cool, to be honest.

I plan on watching Gen Kill this weekend to try and avoid thinking about the disaster that is our political system. I actually used the phrase "cos nothing makes you feel better about the state of government than watching attractive, broken Marines be awesome" at work today.

This election's been an utter train wreck. Beyond depressing, especially the current talks.

I've been watching Doctor Who tonight - nothing like some wacky fantasy to take your mind off things!
