I've ditched Firefox as well. I'm on K-Meleon which, oddly enough, is more stable and faster than Chrome. I'm *not* sure but Greasemonkey might be able to be configured with K-Meleon - it runs on Gecko, the Mozilla rendering engine. This is the link to extension questions:

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/list.php?9

This isn't to say K-Meleon is perfect, it's kinda ugly, but it reminds me very much of early Firefox, you know, when it didn't suck.

Ah, Yuletide fic. Life got a lot better once the first 1,000 words got finished. Now it can only go up from there. ;)

Edit: Ah, yes. There is a GreaseMeleon: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?9,75836 Not sure if they have LJ scripts but I'm sure they can be adapted.

I've never even heard of K-Meleon! I'll have to have a look - if I can have greasemonkey, that'd be good. I've just remembered a greasemonkey app that I really don't want to be without for the sake of my peace of mind/sanity.

I'm sad about Firefox, but it keeps freezing up when I just try to scroll down a page, or open a new tab! Which, you know, kind of pathetic!

I had a great start with my yuletide fic, then kind of stalled. But I've picked it up again, and now I could really do without the interruption.

I owe you big time for helping me out with that! Though I'm still searching for the other (related) one, for perfect zen all the time! ;-)

OMG, your Firefox is doing what mine is doing!! I thought I was the only one! Sorry, I am no use, since my computer is too old to even run Chrome, but it's comforting that it's not just me. I'm using Safari (which has its spellcheck set to French, and I can't get it to stop) and crossing all my extremities that Firefox gets itself straightened out.

There's a link above to an extension that might help your Firefox run better (it fixes the memory leak). And I knew I'd seen someone else posting about it, but I didn't comment at the time and then I couldn't remember who it was.

Do you still have one of those google wave invites? I asked someone else the other day, but I'm not sure if she has any left.

Yuletide is freaking me out, especially since work went and exploded on me and I'm working crazy overtime every evening. :/

I've put your email in for an invite, but it just puts you on a waiting list, so you may not get it immediately. Having said that, I got my invitation within a minute yesterday, so hopefully it won't take long.

I'm *almost* wishing I hadn't signed up for yuletide - it's just not proving to be a good month for it. Here's wishing us both luck!

The main problem with Firefox is the amount of memory it uses, which causes problems - I've installed the extension linked in the comments above, and it's made a huge difference. Enough that I'm going to stick with Firefox for now. But I'm liking Chrome - it just needs a bit more development of addons so that it's more customisable. I'll probably use Chrome some of the time, so I can get used to it and keep an eye on how it's developing.

I think it's one of those decisions that depends on how you use your browser, so probably Firefox is better for some, and Chrome for us. Sorry to be so unhelpful!

It's made a huge difference to me too!

BTW, that comment I made above is meant to read 'Chrome for others' not 'Chrome for us' - my typos are getting worse!

I have mostly ditched FF for chrome as well........

ahhh, if chrome would just have more extensions, (I am not missing the LJ ones, but certainly something like flashgot), it would be soooooooo my main browser!!

Trouble is, we get used to certain things, and then it's hard to do without them. I just love my favourite extensions so much!
