I've ditched Firefox as well. I'm on K-Meleon which, oddly enough, is more stable and faster than Chrome. I'm *not* sure but Greasemonkey might be able to be configured with K-Meleon - it runs on Gecko, the Mozilla rendering engine. This is the link to extension questions:

This isn't to say K-Meleon is perfect, it's kinda ugly, but it reminds me very much of early Firefox, you know, when it didn't suck.

Ah, Yuletide fic. Life got a lot better once the first 1,000 words got finished. Now it can only go up from there. ;)

Edit: Ah, yes. There is a GreaseMeleon: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?9,75836 Not sure if they have LJ scripts but I'm sure they can be adapted.

I've never even heard of K-Meleon! I'll have to have a look - if I can have greasemonkey, that'd be good. I've just remembered a greasemonkey app that I really don't want to be without for the sake of my peace of mind/sanity.

I'm sad about Firefox, but it keeps freezing up when I just try to scroll down a page, or open a new tab! Which, you know, kind of pathetic!

I had a great start with my yuletide fic, then kind of stalled. But I've picked it up again, and now I could really do without the interruption.

I owe you big time for helping me out with that! Though I'm still searching for the other (related) one, for perfect zen all the time! ;-)

That problem with Firefox is the memory leak and this extension will fix it:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11922

However, I fully support the abandonment. Even that wasn't enough to make me deal with the ridiculous load time and annoying updates.

Ah, thank you! I'll try that, see if it patches things up well enough that I can use Firefox while I'm fixing up whatever other browser I decide to go with.

That extension is brilliant! It's fixed all my freezing issues, sufficiently that I'm happy to stay with Firefox until the other browsers get some more extensions.
