She answers that in her head all the time. No, Mr. Profit. I can't. You're a very bad man and I don't know why I keep working here, because I could get another job if I really wanted, one where I didn't have to do your dirty work and ruin men's lives.

And in her head, he answers in that voice that sounds like whiskey-soaked gravel, do you think I'd ever let you go, Gail?

And no, no she doesn't. Mr. Profit knows about her moment of weakness, when she'd likened herself to Robin Hood and taken from the rich to serve the poor, and Mr. Profit is worse than the Sheriff of Nottingham and that snake and maybe she's confusing the movie and the Disney cartoon, now. But Mr. Profit has power over her, he has leverage, and Gail knows he's captured her well and good and proper.

Besides, says Mr. Profit's voice in her head, and she can see his smile, slick like oil. You know the men I'm ruining as are as bad as I am.So she ( ... )

I'm so glad you like it! I have loved this show for years, and I was THRILLED to see prompts here for it!! Esp. for Jim and Gail, who have such a fucked up dynamic I can't even STAND it. ::hands::

I've loved Profit for years, too. Such an amazing show. And the dynamic between Profit and Gail is one of the most awesome things to have ever existed on TV.

The show was SO AHEAD OF ITS TIME. I mean, the terrible effects (god, the VIRTUAL COMPUTER EFFECTS make me LAUGH OMG) aside, can you imagine if this had gotten a shot on cable, say, a few years ago? ::flails madly::

Still one of my favorite shows to re-watch :)

I KNOW RITE? Way WAY ahead of its time. I often mourn that lost chance. It could've majorly flourished on cable. Dexter before Dexter.

I've only seen one or two episodes of Profit, but I really loved this. You have an amazing way of getting into a character's skin (less creepy than it sounds, I swear) and making said character *real*.

Also, that last line? Killed me dead.
