Supernatural drabble: first breath out of the water
I'm not really allowing myself to write anything other than my Sweet Charity pinch hit at the moment, but this sort of snuck out in my tea break.

There's a moment he thinks he won't make it. It's dark underwater, and cold, and the adrenalin is wearing off. Then he imagines Andrea's face if he surfaces again without Lucas, and he pushes through the water faster, looks further, ignores the explosive burn in his lungs.
When he finally grabs Lucas and bursts to the surface, it's worth the pain. He hears Lucas gasp, first breath out of the water, and that's all he needs.
Andrea thanks him with her eyes and words and later with a lingering kiss. But it's the sound of Lucas' breath he always remembers.
