Friday Night Lights ficlet: "the sky of the sky of a tree called life"

Apr 13, 2007 13:46

+ A huge thank you to whoever gave me the tree - I came home from work yesterday feeling very blue, and it was a lovely surprise. Perfect timing. Thank you!

+ I've been updating the Hugs, Cuddles and Kisses website daily (thanks to pesha's hard work), so there are over 100 ficlets sorted both by fandom and author over there, plus a lot more already ( Read more... )

I liked this a great deal - I can see these two getting a little closer, and if not becoming friends, at least getting some grudging respect going. Plus they could learn a few tricks off each other...

They should get drunk and go shooting guns with Waverley and bond over how football players make terrible boyfriends...

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Exactly. I think if they each learn a bit more about the other, without the whole boyfriend issue between them, they might be able to not hate each other.

And yes, I'd love to see them hang out with Waverley as well - all three of them seem in need of some girl friends.

You know what I love about this show? It's structured around the boys and the football team and how it excludes the women; and at the same time it has this fantastic cast of women, all of whom either discover, rediscover or display some form of strength and/or independence at one point or another. The women are really beautifully written.

Sigh. It better bloody be picked up for a second season (looks fairly positive but you never know with US network TV).

If I start a 'what I love about the show' comment, I could be here forever. But yes, the women are beautifully portrayed, which is something I would never have expected coming into this show. I love the complexity of the relationships, the way they're developing so naturally. Just little things sometimes, like Corrina Williams being there for Tami in the clinic, the way Tami is helping Tyra, Lyla and Waverly going shooting together - they don't all have to be BFF, or in each other's pockets all the time, but they're there.

Thank you - I'm really pleased you enjoyed it! Funnily enough, I tried to write them a few weeks ago, as a gift fic, but just couldn't seem to get going. But after this episode, it just seemed right.
