Kavi and Owl are sitting quietly on the front steps of the Mansion, looking, as they can, for all the world like anybody else. Ilmarinen hardly notices Kavi as he passes--but he feels some uneasiness to see that ragged boy; Kullervoinen looked little different, when he asked for a shepherd's place in Ilmarinen's household, and that ragged boy destroyed Ilmarinen's wife for a moment's spite ... but all of that is subconscious, and so he only nods slightly as he climbs the steps on his way into the house.

Kavi nods back, and smiles, guileless and youthful. "Hello, sir," politely. Owl, on the other hand, glowers.
