Kavi and Owl are sitting quietly on the front steps of the Mansion, looking, as they can, for all the world like anybody else. Kavi has been to see Mary Watson, so he's solid and certain, nothing transparent about him; he's waiting for Pyetr Ilitch, in a way, not because he expects him, but because he might come--Pyetr Ilitch does come, sometimes

Ilmarinen hardly notices Kavi as he passes--but he feels some uneasiness to see that ragged boy; Kullervoinen looked little different, when he asked for a shepherd's place in Ilmarinen's household, and that ragged boy destroyed Ilmarinen's wife for a moment's spite ... but all of that is subconscious, and so he only nods slightly as he climbs the steps on his way into the house.

Kavi nods back, and smiles, guileless and youthful. "Hello, sir," politely. Owl, on the other hand, glowers.

He smiles back, more polite than friendly, pausing at the head of the stairs. "Hello, boy, and blessings on you."

[owl_and_heart]

"Me, sir?"

[smithofwainola]

"If you have a god, to bless you."

[owl_and_heart]

"Thank you, sir. The God bless you, too."

If Kavi says no more, then Ilmarinen will go inside, shaking his head at the strange feeling of disquiet in him. The boy is just a boy, after all.

Not just a boy: and Owl's yellow eyes will follow Ilmarinen until he's out of sight.

So very unnerving. And perhaps, when he gets home, he will forge latches for his windows and door.

Although Kavi doesn't have designs on him, it's perhaps not a bad idea.
