Full Frontal Hugging

Nov 23, 2009 16:36

Okay, the problem with totally crazy stuff is that, sometimes, it's impossible to tell if it's totally crazy on purpose (aka a parody) or if people really are just this f***ing nuts.

My first instinct, upon seeing this video, was to assume it was the former:

but after doing some research (aka futzing around on the Internet for twenty minutes), ( Read more... )

rants, religion, videos, rl. wtf

I can almost guarantee you it's real. While in junior high and high school, I went to a Christian camp every summer where they had the "6 inch" rule. You had to stay 6 inches from the opposite sex. And, yes, they had rulers just to make sure.

*headdesk*

That's so crazy!

They used to measure our skirts with rules in Catholic school, and we had to leave room "for the Holy Spirit" while dancing, but hugs were a-okay.

I just can't believe that I've never heard of anything like this before. It's so cynical! It's like any touch between a man and woman is potentially tainted. I don't like it.

Thank you (so belatedly!) for my awesome virtual hug.

It makes me smile every time I log in or out.

And can you believe that? It's so wacky.

I am constantly amazed at the filthy mindedness of those crazy right wing christians who see sin and lust in every possible corner, and in the most innocent gestures. I mean, WTF? No hugging? It makes me want to go and rub myself against the next person I meet.

Actually the creepiest link was the one to the Duggar family page, which I just googled - insane people, clearly, and intent on filling the world with more of their own brand of insanity, which is troubling, because at the rate they breed they will probably outnumber the rest of us in a few generations - and the apparently serious discussion of sidehugs between parents and children.

Mind you, clearly, any full frontal hugging in the household results in Mrs D getting a bun in the oven, so they are probably right to be careful.

Hee, I was totally going to tell you that you don't hang in the Duggars' thread nearly enough, S. You know how obsessively fascinated I am with them...this is fersher for reals. Like totes. And as elzed has eluded to, the Duggars and folks like them are scary with how fixated they are with sexuality and sex. Even the smallest of the little boys are told to "Nike" when they pass a female who is trying to "defraud" them by walking by...with a midriff or, you know, shoulders exposed, cause it is, of course, the woman's fault that a dude can't keep his thought pure. (Nike in the Duggar-speak means to look down at their shoes). And the littlest girl actually covered the television screen when the kids were watching the Today Show with their parents on it, cause Koda or Meredith or someone was obviously trying to entice her older brothers. Ugh ( ... )

Bomer may over emote and look a little overdressed (except those glorious shirtless moments they sprinkle through the show) but I rather like him. Because he is exceedingly pretty, and rather roguishly flirty and innocent at the same time. And really, really pretty. Like, lickably so.
