We went to see Milk tonight at the Castro Theater. It was the commercial premiere of the movie, in the heart of the Castro where it all began. What an amazing experience.

Thanks for this review, S. The film is on my radar and it's good to know you give it a thumbs up. I can still remember when Milk was shot, hearing that announcement, and thinking how surreal it was.

It was so good, and really engrossing in a way that I think biopics often are not. I really felt like I came away with a sense of what he was like as a man, not just a symbol.

If you get a chance, it's certainly worth a look.

thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I was so glad when I originally heard that Harvey Milk's story would be told on film. I learned about him many years ago in school and was always very impressed with him.

It really does a great job of making him seem like a real person, which makes what he was able to do that much more impressive.

One of the things that really struck me was just how far we as a country have come in only 30 years, and how much he had to do with that, with insisting that people be open about who they really were. It was wonderful.
