so...i'm on anti-depressants. i'm about 11 days into a course of lexapro. so far, i've only really noticed some side effects (especially drowsiness). i have been in a really light mood, since monday before last. almost giddy, and i don't know how this relates. it's really too soon to expect any sort of real chemical change in my brain, so maybe it' ( Read more... )

Actually, 11 to 14 days is usually the typical time frame for anti-depressants to begin working chemically. It took me the full 14 days for my Zoloft.

It's going to be weird for the first couple of weeks. Your moods will be a bit more flighty, but after the first month or so, you'll find that a lot of what used to affect your mood for the worse doesn't anymore. Your day to day mood will improve, and you'll find yourself becoming more laid back.

I'm a month in on Lexapro...I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow to see what the hell is going on with me. The drowsiness is part and parcel with the whole Lexapro gig.

More or less, I experienced the same deal with the Lexapro. Euphoria a few days in, then settling. I went back into the way I was acting before my dog died, which was a relief, but at the same time has brought about behavior that maybe shouldn't be happening on meds.

Also, I'm now going to go drink a gallon of chocolate milk too. Chocolate milk with Kahlua is really good...it might be better than just ordinary chocolate milk...or chocolate milk with nutella melted in?

omg, i think we might be the same person.

i'm seeing the psychopharmacologist at emory tomorrow to discuss my progress.

i just feel different, more carefree, i guess. it's nice, but i don't feel like it's me really.

chocolate milk from patrick stump. that would surely be the greatest of all chocolate milks.

If you're seeing a fellow named Jacobs about your meds, I'll give up the premise and just come move in. You'll have less rent and the same number of people ( ... )

Well wishes definitely sent.

I liked Lexapro. It's actually one of my better-liked anti-depressants. I would have preferred Celexa, but I gained 60 lbs on that (and one is far less likely to gain any weight on Lexapro, but reap similar benefits).

I hope it works for you - truly. *snuggles* As for the giddiness, sometimes just knowing you're taking a positive step towards feeling better can trigger it, even if the meds haven't fully kicked in yet. It's like having that security rope holding you safe - you know it, and it helps jump start the good feelings.
