[The PCD is lying against the wall nearby, so it doesn't catch much of Lucifer. Just that he's sitting--looking almost as contemplative as a yogi--on charred floorboards of the beautiful (if neglected) Chateau

[With no idea what will be taken from her, he just has to shove it all aside and prepare for the worst. He leans back on a hand and looks at Gabriel, seeming as exhausted as he is.] And in the meantime, brother?
[ he'd like to simply ignore this. it would be easier that way, after all. but it's his brothers. it's his family. for all that balthazar is the prodigal, the ever wayward son, the deserter and the blight upon the family name, his loyalties still run deep. the loss of a raphael, psychotic bastard that he was, is still the loss of a family member. bal mourns it, in his own small way. ]
You'll ruin your clothes.

[He's not celebrating, you dick. In fact he's had a pretty bad day what with Rei and Raven ditching him and Rachel coming to him almost-crying because you were mean to her. 8| But he doesn't lead off with that, at least.]
[There isn't, really. He's not anywhere near as pleased about Raphael's death as he wants to be, and even less so at his brothers stressing about it.
He still does have to have words with Lucifer about Rachel, though. And maybe Balthazar too.]
I am.
[With only half the people that are supposed to be there, as the others including Rei just ran off on some elaborate investigation without including him. He's pissed off about that too.]
[ Buffy's just wandering along, minding her own business, when she sees a face that's familiar but who has been all too distant from her in recent weeks. Or like a monthish, even. Whatever the case, too long. She's missed him. Which is what influences her to want her reaction upon seeing him to be a happy one, but the fact that he's a mess - literally, a walking mess - derails that train of thought completely and she walks up to him in a pronounced and very concerned fashion. ]
Oh, my god -- Lucifer, what happened t-- are you alright?
[Lucifer is trying to do what Gabriel suggested. He's trying to wait. But it's nearly impossible for him, the angel who even in a Cage was always scheming, always acting.
When he sees Buffy, sees that she--for reasons other humans can't acknowledge--is worried, he relaxes. Just a little.]
My brother died.
[So is he alright? Not really. But he doesn't need to explain that to Buffy, of all people.]
[ She doesn't need to hear anything more than that. Her face is still wrought with concern, and she reaches up and touches his cheek, trying her best to offer some gesture of comfort, however feeble. He's her friend; he's someone she cares about. Even being Lucifer, that holds true. Her eyes search his while she racks her brain trying to find something to say, anything, that would be able to do any of this justice. But she doesn't muster much, just - ]
[It's a long time before Thomas says anything. He's kept an eye on the PCD communications, and between this and Molly he's got a good idea what happened. After all, you don't survive long in the White Court if you can't put together the barest hints into a coherent plot against your life, and this is similar enough that he feels comfortable making a guess. And he does so with his usual lack of tact, and maybe some small vicious satisfaction. Who, Thomas? Hold a grudge? Say it ain't so.]

You've heard that a human has his sword?
