At some point after recent events, River slipped out of the Inn, quiet and mostly unnoticed. She enters now, a glimpse of woods behind her as shuts the door, boots and legs muddy. More than her appearence, her expression gives away the difference between the River here now and the River who left a little while ago. She's detatched, less sane, more ( Read more... )

"River?"

He folds his arms with a frustrated sigh, because to him she walked right through the wall. Still no door there.

"Course. Gorram inn's pain enough on its own..."

Mal had said little girls. It's just somehow River didn't filter through in that category.

River tilts her head, looking at him with that seeing-through-you stare of hers.

"Yes," she agrees. "It is." Whether she doesn't recognize that he's calling her a pain or just doesn't acknolwedge it, well, only River knows.

Jayne muses, silently (for once), that there's enough here that's giving him the uncomfortables without the addition of River's stare thing.

"So you been here before too? Saw Kaylee 'n Mal. How long this secret kidnappin' Inn thing been goin' on without anybody tellin' me?" Nevermind that he wouldn't have believed it or that it's not exactly an easy thing to bring up especially with everything else going on.

He doesn't feel like he gets treated enough like a part of the crew as it is (not that he wants to, he's just in all of this for the money. Right. Cause they make so much of that.)

"No one knows. Long time. ...Wash is here too." A quick pause, and then she adds, "not Zoe," as if it ought to help.

She's rather cheerful, despite Jayne's annoyance. Or, quite possibly, because of it.
