Remus, for his part, managed to make himself look presentable. He wasn't about to go out and make it look like he couldn't function anymore. And he could. He was doing just fine, dammit. Even if his cigs were beginning to become a permanent fixture in his inner robe pocket.

White oxford shirt, trousers and a robe over it all. It was presentable and was fine by him. After kissing both his children good-bye and with a promise he wouldn't be out late, Remus Apparated to the Ministry, went through all the procedures (he still had that feeling of dread everytime he came here. A small child to be marked and counted) and managed to find Penny at their expected meeting place.

"I hope I am not late," Remus said apologetically.

"Not at all," Penny reassured him when she saw him approaching. He looked... all right, although there was something distinctively off about his air, as if... well, Penny couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something was wrong, sure. "It's so good to see you again, Professor," she began, smiling and extending her hand.

Nodding, Remus smiled and shook Penny's hand. He shoved his hands in his pockets, gazing suspiciously up at the ceiling. Half expecting some Ministry officer to come swooping down upon him, take his vital signs and question him to make sure he hadn't killed or bitten anyone.

Pleasant thoughts and all that. Remus shuddered, lowering his gaze and determined to keep his eyes lowered and on Penny. "I hope you have been well." Another smile, and this time he hoped was sincere.

Briefly wondering why Remus seemed so fidgety, looking here and there, Penny shook off the thought and nodded in response to his question. "As well as one could expect. I have a decent, well-paying job, am independent now, and have a fair amount of friends. It's all right." Eyeing him curiously, she tilted her head slightly. "How about yourself? Have you been well?"
