[Well, this is a little bittersweet - he'd hate to think of his own parents here. But if it's Ed she's worried about, at least she'll be happy to know he's here, right?]
Sorry if I'm the one to tell you that Al isn't here, but Ed is! But, uh... forgive him if he's not too excited to see you, alright? This isn't exactly a place we'd wish on our parents.
that Alphonse is separated from Ed worries her, especially since her boys were rarely apart from each other unless they were at odds... hmm... and then there's the 'not too excited to see you' bit, as well.]
I'm--
[confused? okay, yeah, confused... lost. but--]
--very glad to hear he's alright! Could you tell me where I can find him? And... do you know where Alphonse is, if he isn't with his brother?
[Damn, that's a good mother for you - still putting her kids first even in this nut house. Not that he has a bad mother, but still - Yosuke's a little envious]
If Al isn't here, that means he's still back where you guys are from, and that's a good thing.
As for Ed, well... he could be a few places right now. Either at his house, or maybe in the park - I guess he could be at school, too. [If Ed's mom is here, he'll want to know - and now Yosuke is feeling quite pro-active!] I'm not doing much right now, so why don't I go look for him? I can send him your way.
[being apart from her kids -- or having them separated at all -- isn't a good thing in her book. mama must rectify this... Alphonse can't be home all by his lonesome! not that she isn't confident that he was a smart boy and find Pinako, but... ;;
hm. his house? park? school? this doesn't make much sense to her either... Edward would be upset and frightened being taken from his family, for sure...]
Would you mind? I'm so sorry to ask you to go out of your way like this, but he shouldn't be all alone. [and she would find a way to repay him! somehow. like pies. or stew. or stew and pies.]
[Enter one (1) Edward Elric walking down the street. He's quite a bit older from the last time Trisha saw him, but one look would be all she would need to realize it was her son. There was no mistaking him -- his hair pulled back in a ponytail and his eyes, that same bright gold as his father's, even his build is similar. Well, except the height, he's nowhere near as tall as Hohenheim.
But this is definitely Ed. This is definitely her son and she... she was definitely his mom.
He froze in place. His jaw dropped, his eyes widened and every last bit of color drained from his face. She looked exactly the way he remembered her. Long chestnut hair tied in a loose ponytail that was pulled over her shoulder, bright green eyes -- warm and kind and soft and welcoming and... and...
oh God his mother was here. His breath catches in his chest and a strange strangled sort of noise escaps him when he tries to call out to her. He bites his lip and takes a deep breath. When he finally managed to speak, his voice was soft and hesitant, unsure and
( ... )
her footsteps stall when she catches sight of him... and completely unprepared to face her five-year-old boy all grown up and... looking so much like his father, the surprise on her face is easy to read as an open book.
her hands have tangled loosely in the fabric of her coat over her chest. she can't believe what she's looking at... but there couldn't be any question of who it was. she was looking at -her son,- yet somehow... a decade, if not more older than she had last... left him.
the distraught expression on his face tugs at her every heartstring-- and no matter how old he'd gotten, she's still his mother... the urge to make better and reassure him instant and so strong it swallowed even the shock as he shakily managed to get her name out.]
...E... Edward? [the 'I've been looking all over for you!' that was supposed to come next seems a little silly, somehow.]
[His heart just about stopped when she spoke. Her voice had haunted his dreams for years, still did. He'd close his eyes and see... that thing he and Al made. Writhing pathetically on the floor, reaching out to him, calling his name in her voice, wanting to know why he failed her, why didn't he find a way to bring her back, look what he did to himself and to Al, how could he? He was such a terrible son. A miserable excuse for a human being who wasn't able to bring his family back together and couldn't even save one little girl. How could he live with himself
( ... )
[well... he may not muster the courage, but she has no such barriers holding her back from her compulsions. she can't believe it, looking him over in awe -- stretching her hands to softly cup his cheeks.]
You've gotten... so tall, Edward...
[thumbs smoothed over his skin, fondly and a little imploringly. how is this possible? ah, he looks... so very much like his father, it's taken her breath right away and she has no idea what to ask him first.]

Trisha Elric?
[Even Riza has to take a moment and steel herself. She'd never met the woman but she had heard plenty about her and knew a lot about the family.]
Mrs. Elric, Edward is here. But you aren't home anymore--you are in Mayfield. You have allies here, because many of us from Amestris have heard about you from your sons. But before you go wandering around town looking, you need some information.
And something to protect yourself with, also.
I'm sorry I can't give you a better welcome than this, but Mayfield is a very dangerous place.
Alphonse isn't here, which most likely keeps him far safer than he could ever be here.
I can give you directions to Edward's house, but it may be better if he comes to you. [Mostly because Riza will always worry about Ed being stuck in that house with Lust.]
[she's not the first person who's told her Alphonse isn't in the town, hard as that is to swallow... and she's very worried about both her boys, now. :(]
Is there a reason it would be better for him to find me?
[There were different footsteps moving around this morning! Nyanpire could tell. He KNEW stuff like that. So he watched her carefully, as she inspected the house, and picked up the phone.... then came forward to greet her, when he had decided that she seemed nice.]
and it just... spoke to her? she's blinking at him a little taken off her guard where she was seated at the kitchen table, phone still cradled absently to her ear, even if it's been forgotten.]
--Oh, I... yes, I'm... [new? maybe this really is a dream...]
[Nyanpire pads on up to her, and sits at her feet. She's probably confused. He was very confused, once, too. So he should be a good kitty and try to help.]
This is Mayfield! It takes people from all over, and makes them live here, nyaa! Sometimes it's scary... but there are nyice people, too!
[Those are all things that he would have wanted to hear, having arrived.]
[she pushes the chair back a little bit to crouch down to his level, hugging dress to her knees. he really is talking, right?
well, she'll stretch a few fingers carefully, and if he doesn't seem to mind... maybe she'll give him a pet HOW ABOUT THAT.]
My name is Trisha Elric... [right, right. she looks a little apologetic; he seems so sweet...] I'm sorry, it's just... that I've never met a talking cat before!
["-Bump"! Literal as ever, the young boy stumbles backward, looks up, and then stares up wide-eyed. He hadn't been paying attention, far too preoccupied with a crumple piece of paper littered with doodles.]
Unuuuu? [Because looking lost is an important detail, he catches on fairly quickly.] Are... you looking for something?
[it's a quiet little noise of surprise, and she's quickly -- apologetically -- looking down at the tiny boy... then crouching down to make sure he was alright.]
I'm sorry...! I should watch where I'm going, shouldn't I?
