Who: Gabriel and Az
Where: Az's room.
When: January 23rd, evening
What: Gratuitous exploitation of relationships for information.

Peter leaving was the last thing Gabriel had ever expected. In fact, he had known the moment he and the kid had kissed that he would be the one doing the leaving. But alas, for all the ways the viewer had tried to appear bad ( Read more... )

Az had been humming to herself, some tune she half remembered from when she was younger, while reading in the last rays of sunshine of the day. The balcony doors were thrown open to let the sweet smelling air brought up from the gardens below by a gentle breeze circulate the room. All in all she had been surprisingly content in doing not much at all for the last half hour ( ... )

His plan was already working flawlessly, and he hadn't even said a single word to her. Instead of a greeting in reply to the questioning way in which she said his name, he laid out the issue on the table. "Peter left," he announced, followed by a heavy sigh, his eyes going to the floor. "That's what happened," he finished abruptly before looking back up at her. He ran a hand over his face and allowed himself to be tugged into the room by the other.

Gabriel was glad for the privacy her room offered, because he was unsure how convincing his acting would've been to the guards. They weren't exactly his biggest fans, mostly due to the word spread about him from Cain and his second in command. Fortunately, Az remained unaware of their suspicions.

"No, I'm not okay. This really sucks." Another sigh and he took advantage of her proximity, letting his arms slip around her in a hug that he hoped would offer comfort.

She could not help but gape at what Gabe announced, "He left?" That was...sudden. The man had not seemed to have given any warning at all, at least nothing Az had seen at dinner. And surely Gabe would have told her if he had known before. "What happened?" Az wanted to respect any boundaries Gabe wanted, but still she felt the question escape her before she could stop it ( ... )

He nodded at her surprised expression. "Yup, he left." Funny, he had had the same look on his face when Peter marched into his room and announced his departure. At the next question, he shrugged. "I don't have any dramatic story to tell you, if that's what you were looking for. He just told he me he wasn't at home here. Went back to the other side, I guess."

Gabriel allowed his body to relax into her embrace, enjoying the way her hands felt massaging his back. At least breakup's were good for something, like snuggling up to the friend you quietly wished was more of a play thing. "Me too," he pouted. "This is the last thing I would've expected from him."

As they moved to the couch, he took a seat next to her and leaned back, before he was wrapped back up in the embrace. "I mean I'll be fine, but... it's certainly left a mark. How am I supposed to trust anyone? Peter was the one person I thought was a rock..." he shook his head.

Oh, playing victim was kinda fun.

"I don't know," the Princess answered honestly. "I have not heard anything different from or about her." She too wondered how long the representative from Ix would be in the Queendom. Was she going to be a permanent observer of the Court? Or was she only staying until the eventual Coronation? "I suppose it all depends on whether she is staying after when DG is crowned, or not."

Az had not thought of that, "I don't know that either. I seem to be lacking in the facts, don't I?" Her question was tipped with a bit of amusement, even as she questioned whether her lack of information could hurt her or not. She preferred to stay out of most things political if she could help it, but now it could be working against the best interests of those around her. "It is possible," she conceded. "After all, it would be a good place to train, and safer than it is here." But she would have to leave Jeb behind, and she hated that idea.

She shrugged lightly, "I don't think it is guarded, exactly. But I'm not sure where they put it, where they put him. In ( ... )

"Well I meant for your training," he clarified. "Whether or not the both of you would be staying or leaving." He paused. "As for her staying permanently, I would doubt it after the fiasco with the longcoats," he nodded. "I know if it had been me I wouldn't want to stay here." His next question was answered with the same lack of information, and he frowned openly. It was extremely irritating that Az apparently knew nothing. "You know, you should really start paying better attention to things like that," Gabriel chided lightly. "I know it's a subject you want nothing to do with, but you need to educate yourself... in case a worst case scenario happens and you have to take charge." He gave her a little nudge in the arm. It's also a pain in my ass when my only confidante knows nothing. She wasn't completely unaware, thank Ozma. Mother had it... well, that was all well and good, but he couldn't very well waltz up to the Queen and ask where she was keeping Zero. Scoping out all the places it could be wasn't very feasible either, as the ( ... )

"Oh," she grinned sheepishly, realizing the mistake in her logic. A light hint of red hit her cheeks, even as she considered the fact that very little actually got her embarassed. It was only when she felt she had overstepped her bounds, that she had said the wrong thing, or that she was taken by surprise by some societal convention she had not even considered. Bowing her head slightly, she accepted the light reprobation. He was right, she had been too content in avoiding anything remotely unpleasant that she had been putting blinders on herself. Something that would help no one ( ... )

Of course Azkadellia had a quick-fire answer to her inability to charge. It was so frustrating the way she refused to accept even the idea of possible responsibility. Gabe wasn't sure why she did this, but he wondered if it had to do with her years acting as the Sorceress. Was she afraid that if she accepted even the smallest bit of power, she would fall back into the grips of dark magic?

"Yes but, should an emergency arise, you would be the most suitable heir." Her reluctance could be dealt with... Gabriel would just be single handedly responsible for her psychological shift, gentle nudge by gentle nudge. He shook his head sadly at the way she put herself as low on the list as longcoats, but the irony in her statement did not go unnoticed, at least to his inner workings. She was right above the longcoats... or at least, she had been at one time. "Don't say that, Az. You know the OZ would rather have you as a Queen long before a longcoatHe shifted, perhaps a little nervously, when she caught his irritated sigh. It had not been meant ( ... )
