Cain removed his hat before entering the conference room.
"You're Majesty." He gave a slight bow. "Unfortunately, there's a situation at hand."
Okay, that was as delicate was he was willing to get here.
"The witch's right hand man, Zero, has escaped his prison and is on the loose. The man is as dangerous as the witch was, all he lacks is magic."
Wyatt tried not to pace. "He's got a vandetta, and if he starts to gather any Longcoats still lurking in the shadows, he's the highest threat we face at the moment."
He leaned his knuckles on the edge of the table, meeting the lavender eyes of his monarch. "I cannot stress enough how much I want you to reconsider the upcoming ball. With him loose the entire royal family is a target, but most especially your daughters."
Situation? That could mean several different things. However she'd learned to keep her cool when she heard that word.
Zero. That name sounded familiar, the witch spoke of him once but never got into great detail. "Escaped?" She questioned and then it struck her, one of those Tin cans that he had been locked up in - that's what Cain must have meant was this .. Zeros prison.
"This ball has been far looked upon for people as a reminder that the Witch is gone. Closing this will bring even more reporters. Are you ready to bring that part of your past to the public?"
If it kept the royal family safe he'd admit to the school he attended at the same time as the Academy.
He'd lie to the press and announce he did unusual things with farm animals to keep them all safe.
"I will regret to the grave that I wasn't able to protect my family. That my involvement with the resistance led to them suffering as they did."
As it was all of the suits were being collected so they could be smelted down. Too many had human remains in them. Not many could survive three, let alone eight annuals. But then, how long had Queen Lavender survived her OWN imprisonment?
"If the press learns of it, so be it. Your family's lives are more important than the press. The ball is very difficult security-wise as it is. I have every guard on it. But Zero being out there makes it all the more dangerous."
"Mr. Cain, if I cancel this ball you have no idea how much worse it will get here. All of those who were to attend the parties will be here, in the rooms and in the hallways. Reporters will double two fold to find out what is going on. Would you rather have the hundreds of people in one room where you can keep an eye on them all, or spread out in every room and every hallway in the castle? Could you keep them all safe then?"
Lavender questioned with an even look. After all it wasn't as if she was making this up, they wouldn't just leave - they'd stay and eventually all turn into reporters, wondering what happened.
