RL- little boy!Sam with Bender and the Ninth Doctor

Sep 07, 2008 01:17

Sam sat on the bed in the strange room, swinging his feet absently.  In reality, he was rather too tall, and the bed rather too short for effective leg-swinging, but that didn't stop him.  Every now and again, he would turn to the laptop sitting next to him and give it a curious little poke, wrinkling his nose at the screen; it was clear that he ( Read more... )

Young!Bender really was awestruck as the Doctor materialized in his bedroom. As soon as the wheezing, grinding sound filled his room, he could hear the cursing from downstairs, and cringed. But the box appeared in the doorway, effectively blocking even the tiniest bit of John Sr. from getting through, and Bender stood mouth agape as the doors swung open to reveal a rather tall man dressed in dark clothing leaning against the door frame ( ... )

When the TARDIS materialised in a corner of the flat, Sam was flat on his back in bed, legs kicking aimlessly in the air. He'd been waiting such a long time (at least, it seemed like a long time to the six year old's brain he was currently in possession of) that he'd started on his repertoire of David Bowie songs. He didn't know many, but Dad used to play his records a lot when Sam was little.

It took him a moment, but when that distinctive vworp, vworp sound registered, he practically flew up from the mattress, scrambling around to gape at the corner the sound was coming from. No way.

But it was, undeniably, the TARDIS. Sam's mouth, if possible, dropped open even further, as much as it was possible to drop whilst simultaneously turning into a brilliant grin.

'That's the TARDIS!' He exclaimed to nobody in particular, bubbling over with excitement, and then when the door opened, informed the man who'd opened it. 'That's the TARDIS! The TARDIS!!'

Sam bounced up off the bed, still grinning like a loon.

The TARDIS was still for a moment, silent, before there was a muffled thump, some northern groans, and the doors opened. Nine stalked out scowling, "Oi, move over, this little lump fainted and he needs that bed more than you do."

He laid Bender out on the bed, and the boy immediately began twitching, his eyes slowly opening. Nine spun around for a moment to give Sam a wave, "Hullo Sam, how's your mum," and without waiting for a reply, turned back to the incapacitated boy.

"Feeling alright? Culture shock set in? Funny, the younger ones tend to accept it easier, go figure, and you don't even get the pop culture references. Bet if I sent in a load of Power Rangers after you you'd have stayed awake, rubbish American programming." He rolled his eyes and took a step back, giving the two some room.

{No, actually, I saw a few people, like Juno, who just went full youth regression, and decided to go with that. *nod nod*}

Sam blinked in some alarm at the gruff man who stumped out of the TARDIS, carrying a little boy in his arms. The boy must be Johnny, but he had no idea who the man was. He wasn't the Doctor; the Doctor had curls and that scarf, and he didn't sound like he was from Manchester either.

He hadn't always looked like that, though! He'd been old before, when Sam was littler, and suddenly his faintly confused expression turned into a brilliant smile. The Doctor!

'You've regenerated!' He chirped. 'You're the Doctor and- and-'

Seemingly unable to come up with any further words to express his utter delight, Sam threw himself at the Doctor, wrapping him in a furious hug
