Ruby forwent stealing a car for the less than five minute walk. She liked being outside, she liked feeling the cool wind against the back of her neck, she even liked everything being dark. It made her feel safer, the shadows had never scared her, nor what was behind them.

He opened the door dressed only in a pair of jeans. His bare torso was littered with scars from the job. He knew she liked the scars, a testament to how fragile and yet how damn hard to kill he was. His eyes made a slow journey up her legs, over her waist and her breasts, lingering on her collarbone and finally up to her eyes. "'Bout damn time," he growled as he grabbed her wrist and pulled her inside. He slammed her up against the wall, kicking the door shut behind him. His body slammed up against hers, his mouth biting at her lips.

Their teeth meet for a moment, hit against each other, catch against lips, sharp and rough like it's the end of the line. It probably is.
Talk isn't exactly cheap when Ruby's brain is off somewhere else and she has to consciously force herself to pull away enough to free her mouth in order to form words, but damn he knows just what buttons to push after all these years of a broken give and take.
