Ruby forwent stealing a car for the less than five minute walk. She liked being outside, she liked feeling the cool wind against the back of her neck, she even liked everything being dark. It made her feel safer, the shadows had never scared her, nor what was behind them.

Her heels click click clicked along the asphalt and then the sidewalk as she walked, her hair bushing across her shoulders like she was on a boat in choppy water, the hem of her skirt fluttering in the wind.

The heels, the skirts, the red leather jacket, it was all just a show. She knew how much he liked her legs- his appreciation of them measured in the number of 'damn's that slipped past his lips the second her laid eyes on her.

It wasn't about love or hearts and flowers and Hallmark cards. They fit, both missing a puzzle piece they'd probably never get back and both just carrying on. It was a mutual agreement, based on her desire to keep him alive and kicking and his desire to keep her alive and kicking underneath him.

The clicking lessened as she hit the motel's sidewalk and then stopped when she reached his door. "Open up, Winchester," she called, knocking sharply with her knuckles.
