Rape victims seeking compensation are having their payouts reduced if they had been drinking before they were attacked. That's right. Women who are among that devastatingly small minority whom the law in its wisdom has deemed to really have been raped, are being denied Criminal Injuries Compensation because [sic] 'they had been drinking'.

The BBC report on that is subtly different. The case has been won, and the principle established, so that CICA should make full awards.

DId you see that the women employees of whatever it was local council managed to win their fight for equal pay, and not have those Settlements stand whereby they were equalised over time. The one the Equality Commission withdrew funding from?

I am stunned that Britain, which is considerably more PC than France, still produces these kinds of rulings regularly. (OTOH 70% of French judges are women, which helps.)

Oh, this is wrist-slitting stuff. Practically every man the victim of gbh in our city centres on Saturday night has been drinking, but does the CICB lessen their compsenation? Do they buggery.
