Rape victims seeking compensation are having their payouts reduced if they had been drinking before they were attacked. That's right. Women who are among that devastatingly small minority whom the law in its wisdom has deemed to really have been raped, are being denied Criminal Injuries Compensation because [sic] 'they had been drinking'.
However, at least it is now being reported that
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority was under pressure today to give full payouts to at least 14 rape victims who had their awards cut because they had been drinking when they were attacked. and the Solicitor General has stated that
Nobody would suggest that if someone's wallet was stolen after having a drink then their compensation should be reduced.
Guardian editorial,

this case:
A man with dementia who strangled his wife has been spared jail but banned from his local pub after a judge decided he was too unwell to go to prison.
....
Flaherty had confessed to the culpable homicide - the Scottish legal equivalent of manslaughter- of his 69-year-old wife after they argued when she refused to give him money to go to the pub.
