Where in NZ could that be? I was thinking Mavora Lakes but it could also be a river, not a lake... Anyone? Bueller?

It looks very much like the area I passed on my way from Franz Josef to Haast. Maybe Lake Moeraki? I've been to the Mavora Lakes, they looked different than on this picture, at least the part I saw.

Yes. The water looks a bit like glacier water, so that's well possible. Eeeeeeeh!!!

What exactly is the Chronicles of Riddick?

The film that follows up Pitch Black, with Vin Diesel reprising the role of Riddick - and Karl Urban playing one of the main characters. The way the story ended, he should be featured prominently at least in the next movie too! :D
