And Bilbo is . . . Tom Cruise?

With MGM involved in financing “The Hobbit,” and Tom Cruise heading its United Artists division, its been a TORn staff hobby to joke about Tom Cruise playing Bilbo. Far fetched? Perhaps, but, he just flew to Wellington to meet with Peter Jackson. No joke.

No way... Tom Cruise??? Please let this not be true! It's 1st April, yes?!

Glad to hear you're not waking up quite so early, but hope that you eventually catch up on sleep. It does take a while to re-adjust after being on the other side of the world. Take it easy if/when you can and don't worry about posting here, it can wait!

Thanks for your good wishes, have a good Thursday too :-)
*hugs*

Actually, I've never seen Tom in a bad film - not that I've seen them all. And I'm certain he could do Bilbo, for want of a better word.

But I DO NOT LIKE the man. Full stop. He's egotistical, narrow-minded, short-sighted, and...and...just OH!. PLEASE not Bilbo. Nonono!! xxxx

You forgot the Scientology thing. *shudders* He did make some very good films, yes, and he does have some acting talent, I guess, but he's just not a *great* actor. I mean, take Nicolas Cage. He did a lot of action crap movies, but at the end of the day he's just a very talented actor. Brad Pitt, too.

I'm always surpsrised about these total superstars who really aren't that talented. *cough*Madonna*cough*Britney*cough*Tom Cruise*cough*

Heh, I doubt it. Maybe he'd be interested in playing Bard, but the first source indicates he's chasing some other project, not anything Hobbit-related. Hopefully the casting will be announced soon and we'll all be able to stop worrying. :D

Is it April 1st? !!

I'm not keen on Tom to be honest but it would be a bad mistake casting him as Bilbo. He carries to much 'baggage' to be Bilbo and I think it needs to be a much lower profile actor. If it isn't Hobbit related, I wonder why he is visiting peter?
