Maybe you've had the experience of clicking on a link, wanting to read or reread a favorite story or visit a recs page, and discovering that it has vanished. An archive goes down, a web host decides to purge fannish content, and untold numbers of vids, stories, and communities are lost.
But what if there was an archive that wasn't supported by advertising traffic? An archive supported by a nonprofit organization, itself supported by fans, whose stewardship could be depended on? That's our vision for the Archive Of Our Own, a multi-fandom archive where stories of all kinds will be safe from arbitrary deletions and where you’ll never have to fear that your creations are being used to generate profit for someone else.
The Archive of Our Own is the project around which the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) coalesced. We're a nonprofit organization established by fans, for fans.
Over the last ten months, we’ve incorporated as a nonprofit; drafted bylaws and internal policies; created and revised vision, values, and mission statements; launched a website; and applied for U.S. tax-exempt status. We’ve launched Open Doors, a project which offers shelter to at-risk fan projects and archives, and Transformative Works and Cultures, a peer-reviewed academic journal on fan studies. We've drafted the Terms of Service for An Archive of Our Own, and we’ve recruited coders to begin building the open-source archive software. Now we're ready to ask for your support; we want you to become a member of OTW.
The OTW is based on the model of public broadcasting. All of our projects and services are free and open to the fan community, and we will never charge for them. For example, we will not require a donation to read or house fanfiction in the archive, nor will we sell advertising to support the archive, the journal, the wiki, or any other of the OTW’s projects.
However, creating and providing these services does cost money, and so the OTW needs some financial support. In return for a minimum annual donation of $10 USD, you can become a voting member of the OTW. (We happily accept larger donations, too!) Your membership fee allows us to support our projects without selling ad space. And since each membership is assigned a unique ID number, this membership process will help us ensure fair elections. Members elect the board of directors, who in turn shape the work the organization takes on.

We've filed for 501©3 status as a federally-recognized nonprofit organization in the US. By the time 2008 taxes are due, we hope that all donations made to OTW in 2008 will be tax-deductible for fans in the United States. (We'll keep you posted on that.) Ale co kdyby existoval archiv, který by se neopíral o prodej reklamy? Archiv, který by se opíral o podporu neziskové organizace a ta zase o fanoušky, na jejichž dohled by bylo spolehnutí? Tak si představujeme Náš vlastní archiv (An Archive Of Our Own), multifandomový archiv, ve kterém by byly povídky všeho druhu v bezpečí před svévolným mazáním a u kterého byste se nikdy nemuseli bát, že vaše tvorba bude sloužit někomu jinému jako zdroj příjmů.
Náš vlastní archiv je projekt, kolem kterého vyrostla Společnost pro transformativní tvorbu (Organization for Transformative Works) (STT). Jsme nezisková společnost založená fanoušky a pro fanoušky).
V průběhu uplynulých deseti měsíců jsme se dali zaregistrovat jako nezisková organizace, sestavili jsme stanovy a vnitřní směrnice; pečlivě jsme promysleli naši vizi, hodnoty a náš program, spustili jsme webové stránky a ve Spojených státech jsme
zažádali o osvobození od daně. Spustili jsme Otevřené dveře (Open Doors), projekt, který nabízí útočiště ohroženým fanouškovským projektům a archivům, a Transformativní tvorbu a kulturu (Transformative Works and Cultures), recenzovaný akademický internetový časopis zabývající se studiem fandomu. Načrtli jsme podmínky používání Našeho vlastního archivu a zaměstnali jsme kodéry, kteří se pustili do vytváření open-source softwaru pro archiv. Nyní jsme připraveni požádat o podporu vás: chtěli bychom, abyste se stali členy STT.
STT je vybudována podle vzoru veřejnoprávního vysílání. Veškeré naše projekty a služby jsou bezplatné, otevřené fandomové komunitě a nikdy si za ně nebudeme nic účtovat. Nebudeme po vás kupříkladu chtít peněžní příspěvky za to, abyste si v archivu mohli číst nebo do něj přidávat povídky, ani nebudeme prodávat reklamu na zajištění jeho provozu nebo provozu časopisu, wiki či jakéhokoliv jiného projektu STT.
Ovšem vytvořit a zajišťovat zmíněné služby peníze stojí, a proto STT potřebuje jistou finanční podporu. Výměnou za minimální roční příspěvek 10 dolarů se můžete stát hlasujícím členem STT. (Vyšší příspěvky rádi přijmeme také rádi!) Členské poplatky nám umožňují rozvíjení našich projektů, aniž bychom museli prodávat reklamní plochu. A jelikož každému členovi odpovídá unikátní ID adresa, zavedení členství nám pomůže zajistit spravedlivé volby. Členové volí představenstvo, které zase udává směr, jímž se společnost bude ubírat.

Vielleicht ist es euch auch schon passiert dass ihr eine Lieblingsgeschichte (nochmal) lesen wolltet und den Link dazu geklickt habt, nur um zu merken dass er nicht mehr existiert. Ein Archiv ist nicht mehr verfügbar, ein Webanbieter hat beschlossen, Inhalte von Fans zu löschen, und unzählige Vids, Geschichten und Communities gehen verloren.
Aber was wäre, wenn es ein Archiv gäbe, das sich nicht durch Werbung finanziert? Ein Archiv, das von einer Non-Profit-Organisation getragen wird, die wiederum von Fans unterstützt wird, auf die man sich verlassen kann?
Das ist unsere Vision für "An Archive of Our Own" (deutscher Name: "Ein Eigenes Archiv"), einem Multi-Fandom-Archiv, in dem Geschichten jeder Couleur vor willkürlicher Löschung sicher sind und wo ihr nicht befürchten müsst, dass jemand anderes eure Werke ausbeutet, um Profit zu machen.
"Ein Eigenes Archiv" ist das Projekt, um das sich die Organisation für Transformative Werke (Organization for Transformative Works, OTW) gebildet hat. Wir sind eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die von Fans für Fans gegründet wurde.
In den letzten zehn Monaten haben wir uns in den USA als gemeinnützige Organisation eintragen lassen, eine Satzung und interne Richtlinien entworfen; wir haben unsere Werte, Leitbilder und Visionen festgeschrieben und überarbeitet, eine Webseite aus der Taufe gehoben und in den USA Steuerbefreiung beantragt. Wir haben das Projekt "Offene Türen" gestartet, das bedrohten Fanprojekten und Archiven Zuflucht bietet, und "Transformative Works and Cultures" gegründet, eine wissenschaftliche Fachzeitschrift für Fanstudien, die von einem Expertengemium begutachtet wird.
Wir haben Nutzungsbedingungen für Ein Eigenes Archiv aufgestellt und Freiwillige angeworben, die damit begonnen haben, die Open-Source-Software des Archivs zu programmieren.
Jetzt sind wir bereit, euch um eure Unterstützung zu bitten: wir wollen, dass ihr Mitglieder der OTW werdet.
Die OTW basiert auf der Idee des Freien Radios. Alle unsere Projekte und Dienste sind kostenlos und stehen der gesamten Fangemeinde offen, und wir werden niemals Geld dafür verlangen. Zum Beispiel müsst ihr nichts spenden, um im Archiv Fanfiction zu lesen oder zu speichern, und wir werden auch keine Werbung verkaufen, um das Archiv, die Fachzeitschrift, das Wiki, oder irgend ein anderes OTW-Projekt zu unterstützen.
Doch natürlich kostet es trotzdem Geld, diese Dienste zu schaffen und anzubieten, und deshalb braucht die OTW finanzielle Unterstützung. Im Austausch für eine jährliche Mindestspende von 10US$ könnt ihr wahlberechtigte Mitglieder der OTW werden. (Wir nehmen natürlich auch gern größere Spenden an!)
Euer Mitgliedsbeitrag ermöglicht es uns, unsere Projekte zu finanzieren, ohne sie als Werbeflächen zu verkaufen. Und da jeder Mitgliedschaft eine eindeutige Identifikationsnummer zugeordnet wird, hilft uns dieser Prozess dabei, für faire Wahlen zu sorgen. Die Mitglieder wählen den Vorstand, der wiederum die Arbeit der Organisation gestaltet.

Wir haben in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika einen Antrag auf Anerkennung als staatlich anerkannte Nonprofit-Organisation nach 501(c)3 gestellt. Ma se invece ci fosse un archivio non sostenuto economicamente dal traffico pubblicitario? Un archivio supportato da una organizzazione noprofit, supportata essa stessa da fan, con una amministrazione affidabile? Ecco la nostra visione per Un archivio tutto per noi, un archivio multi-fandom dove le storie di ogni genere saranno al sicuro da cancellazioni arbitrarie e dove non rischierai mai che le tue creazioni vengano usate per generare un profitto altrui.

Maybe you've had the experience of clicking on a link, wanting to read or reread a favorite story or visit a recs page, and discovering that it has vanished. An archive goes down, a web host decides to purge fannish content, and untold numbers of vids, stories, and communities are lost.
But what if there was an archive that wasn't supported by advertising traffic? An archive supported by a nonprofit organization, itself supported by fans, whose stewardship could be depended on? That's our vision for the Archive Of Our Own, a multi-fandom archive where stories of all kinds will be safe from arbitrary deletions and where you’ll never have to fear that your creations are being used to generate profit for someone else.
The Archive of Our Own is the project around which the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) coalesced. We're a nonprofit organization established by fans, for fans.
Over the last ten months, we’ve incorporated as a nonprofit; drafted bylaws and internal policies; created and revised vision, values, and mission statements; launched a website; and applied for U.S. tax-exempt status. We’ve launched Open Doors, a project which offers shelter to at-risk fan projects and archives, and Transformative Works and Cultures, a peer-reviewed academic journal on fan studies. We've drafted the Terms of Service for An Archive of Our Own, and we’ve recruited coders to begin building the open-source archive software. Now we're ready to ask for your support; we want you to become a member of OTW.
The OTW is based on the model of public broadcasting. All of our projects and services are free and open to the fan community, and we will never charge for them. For example, we will not require a donation to read or house fanfiction in the archive, nor will we sell advertising to support the archive, the journal, the wiki, or any other of the OTW’s projects.
However, creating and providing these services does cost money, and so the OTW needs some financial support. In return for a minimum annual donation of $10 USD, you can become a voting member of the OTW. (We happily accept larger donations, too!) Your membership fee allows us to support our projects without selling ad space. And since each membership is assigned a unique ID number, this membership process will help us ensure fair elections. Members elect the board of directors, who in turn shape the work the organization takes on.

Tak si představujeme Náš vlastní archiv (An Archive Of Our Own), multifandomový archiv, ve kterém by byly povídky všeho druhu v bezpečí před svévolným mazáním a u kterého byste se nikdy nemuseli bát, že vaše tvorba bude sloužit někomu jinému jako zdroj příjmů.
Náš vlastní archiv je projekt, kolem kterého vyrostla Společnost pro transformativní tvorbu (Organization for Transformative Works) (STT). Jsme nezisková společnost založená fanoušky a pro fanoušky).
V průběhu uplynulých deseti měsíců jsme se dali zaregistrovat jako nezisková organizace, sestavili jsme stanovy a vnitřní směrnice; pečlivě jsme promysleli naši vizi, hodnoty a náš program, spustili jsme webové stránky a ve Spojených státech jsme
zažádali o osvobození od daně. Spustili jsme Otevřené dveře (Open Doors), projekt, který nabízí útočiště ohroženým fanouškovským projektům a archivům, a Transformativní tvorbu a kulturu (Transformative Works and Cultures), recenzovaný akademický internetový časopis zabývající se studiem fandomu. Načrtli jsme podmínky používání Našeho vlastního archivu a zaměstnali jsme kodéry, kteří se pustili do vytváření open-source softwaru pro archiv. A jelikož každému členovi odpovídá unikátní ID adresa, zavedení členství nám pomůže zajistit spravedlivé volby. Členové volí představenstvo, které zase udává směr, jímž se společnost bude ubírat.

Vielleicht ist es euch auch schon passiert dass ihr eine Lieblingsgeschichte (nochmal) lesen wolltet und den Link dazu geklickt habt, nur um zu merken dass er nicht mehr existiert. Ein Archiv ist nicht mehr verfügbar, ein Webanbieter hat beschlossen, Inhalte von Fans zu löschen, und unzählige Vids, Geschichten und Communities gehen verloren.
Aber was wäre, wenn es ein Archiv gäbe, das sich nicht durch Werbung finanziert? Ein Archiv, das von einer Non-Profit-Organisation getragen wird, die wiederum von Fans unterstützt wird, auf die man sich verlassen kann?
Das ist unsere Vision für "An Archive of Our Own" (deutscher Name: "Ein Eigenes Archiv"), einem Multi-Fandom-Archiv, in dem Geschichten jeder Couleur vor willkürlicher Löschung sicher sind und wo ihr nicht befürchten müsst, dass jemand anderes eure Werke ausbeutet, um Profit zu machen.
"Ein Eigenes Archiv" ist das Projekt, um das sich die Organisation für Transformative Werke (Organization for Transformative Works, OTW) gebildet hat. Wir sind eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die von Fans für Fans gegründet wurde.

Die OTW basiert auf der Idee des Freien Radios. Alle unsere Projekte und Dienste sind kostenlos und stehen der gesamten Fangemeinde offen, und wir werden niemals Geld dafür verlangen. Mais s'il existait une archive qui n'était pas financée par le traffic publicitaire? Une archive appuyée et financée par une organisation à but non lucratif qui serait lui-même appuyé et financé par des fans? Des fans qui en assureraient une gestion fiable?
C'est là notre vision pour Archive Of Our Own, une archive multi-fandom où histoires de toutes sortes seraient protégées des décisions arbitraires et où vous n'auriez jamais à craindre que vos créations servent à générer du profit pour une tierce personne.
L'Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) (Organisation pour les oeuvres dérivées) s'est construit autour de l'Archive Of Our Own. Nous sommes une organisation à but non lucratif créée par les fans, pour les fans.
Au cours des dix derniers mois, l'OTW est devenu une organisation à but non lucratif, et nous avons proposé des règlements et politiques internes. Nous avons écrit et révisé les communiqués décrivant notre vision, nos valeurs et notre mission. Nous avons lancé un site web et fait une demande d'exemption de taxe en territoire américain. De plus, nous avons lancé Opens Doors (Portes Ouvertes), un abri pour les projets et archives en péril. Nous avons aussi créé Transformative Works and Cultures, un périodique universitaire évalué par les pairs au sujet des oeuvres dérivées. Nous nous sommes également attelés à rédiger les conditions d'usage de l'Archive of Our Own et recruté les programmeurs pour créer la structure open-source de ce dernier. Nous en sommes maintenant à l'étape de demander votre appui, en vous demandant de joindre l'OTW à titre de sociétaire.
L'OTW se base sur le concept de diffusion large public. Tous nos projets et services sont gratuits et ouverts à l'ensemble de la communauté des fans. Leur usage ne sera jamais payant. Par exemple : nous ne demanderons jamais de don pour lire ou archiver des fanfictions dans notre archive et nous ne vendrons jamais d'espaces publicitaires pour financer l'archive, le journal, le wiki, ou tout autre projet futur de la OTW.
En revanche, la création et la maintenance de ces services exigent certaines dépenses et par conséquent, l'OTW a besoin de support financier. Avec un don de 10$ (dollars américains), vous pouvez devenir un sociétaire votant de l'OTW (les don plus importants sont également bienvenus!). Votre contribution nous permettra de financer nos projets sans avoir à vendre d'espaces publicitaires. Et puisque le sociétariat est accompagnée d'une identifiant numéraire unique (ID number), ce processus nous permettra de garantir des élections justes. Les membres votent pour l'élection du conseil de direction, qui en retour donne forme aux projets de l'OTW.

Nous avons fait une demande d'obtention du status 501©3 en tant qu'organisation à but non lucratif reconnue au niveau fédéral aux États-Unis d'Amérique. À la fin de l'année fiscale 2008, nous espèrons donc que les dons faits à l'OTW en 2008 seront déductibles d'impôt pour les fans résidants aux États-Unis d'Amérique (nous vous tiendrons informés à ce sujet). Scompare un archivio, un web host decide di rimuovere i contenuti legati al fandom, e così si perdono innumerevoli vid, storie e intere comunità.
Ma se invece ci fosse un archivio non sostenuto economicamente dal traffico pubblicitario? Un archivio supportato da una organizzazione noprofit, supportata essa stessa da fan, con una amministrazione affidabile? Ecco la nostra visione per Un archivio tutto per noi, un archivio multi-fandom dove le storie di ogni genere saranno al sicuro da cancellazioni arbitrarie e dove non rischierai mai che le tue creazioni vengano usate per generare un profitto altrui.
