Thanks. :)
I'll post the next chapter before taking off for my holidays. I hope you'll like the upcoming twists as well.

Ooh, things are getting really interesting...

(While reading this I had a blooper real running in my head of Ianto putting his hand in the faun's mouth and either missing slightly and hitting his hand, or putting his hand in it and the whole thing falling off the wall (leading to "oops. Well, I guess we won't be using this city's tech in the future..."). Because I'm strange like that.)

That's a hysterically funny idea! Too bad it can't be included. But keep telling me your visions, maybe one day we can write an absolute crackfick together.*g*

I would be honoured (though I doubt you would enjoy writing with me, apparently (as several people have told me in RL) I make too many obscure references.)

You're talking to the queen of obscure references here, so don't worry. *g*

Ooooh, intriguing chapter! Background on the Ancient city and on the wraith, plus getting the city powered up! Hope the haven't attracted Wraith attention though, they're not ready to deal with them yet! Love your explanation of why Ianto's gene is stronger than Jack's - and that Ianto already knows about Jack's altered physiology =) Sometimes I wonder if it's possible to surprise Ianto - he really does know everything!

Oh, they've already attracted Wraith attention, they just don't know about it. And dealing with it *will* have dire consequences.

I thought it would be interesting to make Jack's 51st-century physiology a disadvantage for a change. But wory not, he *will* surprise Ianto eventually... although perhaps not with facts. ;)

As for Ianto knowing about Jack's altered physiology - well, he'd been tortured and poked and whatnot by Torchwood Three long before Ianto was even born, but considering the nature of the organization, there ought to be some documents about it, right? We can see in "Fragments" that there are extensive files about Jack, first hand-written ones, then typed ones... there had to be some sensitive information about him. And who's better than Ianto to find out and to keep them secret, even from their own team-mates?

I like the scene with what the Ghost Machine showed them, with both the ancient perspective and that of the Wraith. It is good that they actually got a chance to see the Wraith before wakening them. I also like the hint of experimentation the Wraith did on what would become the Athosians.

It is also wonderful to see the expedition acting carefully and not willy-nilly. And of course that Jack and Ianto are and will remain the same, no matter the circumstances.

IMO, if the expedition had acted as they did on the show, they'd have all been dead after a week - positively seen. I understand that you can't show everything step by step in 40-minute-episodes, but some sign of actual thinking would have been nice.

So, you caught the hint at Wraith experimentation? Good, good. Then my work here is done. ;)

Jack and Ianto are wonderful together, I think. I especially prefer a strong Ianto who knows what he wants and what he doesn't, and is more than capable of getting it. Woobie!Ianto isn't proper characterization, IMO.

As I told you before when you gave me the draft to read, I really enjoyed this peek into the past. Don't know if I mentioned this before, but you can truly get a feeling of this village being alive and flourishing in the past. It makes an interesting contrast to the ruins the expedition finds.

And poor Ianto, having to pretend that he's like Gwen, stupidly fiddling with stuff! XD

Thanks. I really loved working with the original Ancient city. Perhaps there will be more trips into its past in later story arcs... unless, of course, Dr. Shaw confiscates the Ghost Machine.

Yeah, Ianto was justifiably worried about his reputation. *g*

Sent you some snippets of later stuff, just so. Some of it won't come for a long time yet, but I thought you might be interested.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested, thanks for the snippets!

And if Dr Shaw confiscates the Ghost Machine, they might still end up in situations where she decides the benefits outweight the risks XD

Let's hope so. Or else Jack will be in big trouble.
