I didn't get to go on any outings last week, sadly, and I probably won't get to go on any this week either. That's okay, though, because I'm going to Atlanta to see the Planets by Holst. Freaking awesome, much. I'm looking forward to it ( Read more... )

Yes, and Matt Boyle was also an asshole.
Being a good, enjoyable person > being a good sax player.

Perform/practice as well as you can, but don't compare yourself to butt monkeys like him. Find a master performer like...well, I don't know any famous sax players, but I really like Wynton Marsalis :D (trumpeter) Anyway, try to get to THEIR level, as opposed to the level of one of your peers. Marsalis came home from school every day and practiced hours and hours, until he was absolutely perfect. Then he played some more.

I know I'm being a hypocrite here - I barely have any time to practice piano (ask Mr. H), and the only time I have to practice the organ (yep) is at church on Sundays - but still. It'll pay off.

Talk to you later!

True, but I didn't appreciate him for his humor and wit. I appreciated his playing skill.
I am attempting to find a good sax player, but most people that are easy to find play a style I don't like.. :|

Yes, I'm trying to find more time to practice the sax. Or rather, I'm trying to make more time. We'll see if I'm doing it right after a few months' time.

Hey Ty,

Do you like jazz?

I got this excellent new CD I think you'd like, if you do. Ever heard of Pink Martini?

I like jazz no more or less than the next guy. The next completely uncultured guy, I mean. Not the guy that has actually heard jazz. Not him.
