When one goes to a familiar restaurant, it is often tempting to order "the usual", secure in the knowledge that the dish which arrives at the table will be palatable, if not delicious. There's some dish at Olive Garden that I keep getting because I forget that it includes tomatoes and mushrooms, has no substance whatsoever and tastes like crap. I feel your pain.

But now I want pasta with spinach from Macaroni Grill, with garlic and lots of parmesan on top, and their rosemary bread. *drool*

I usually do that at Red Lobster. There's a dish that always sounds really good on the menu, then it arrives and I realize "oh crap, it's that one again". *g* At least the cheesy rolls are usually good. Mmmm...

Now I want cheesy biscuits. And I had perfectly nice stew and dumplings for lunch, with a candy cane...

I'm sorry your food adventure didn't turn out as well as you'd hoped... That's why I usually stick to the old favorites. Or maybe it's 'cause I'm dull...? *g*

There's a lot to be said for the dull tried-and-true choices. If you *know* you like something, you shouldn't have to push yourself to try some new dish. I'm sure there's a time and place for being adventurous, but I have decided that it is NOT at the Italian restaurant. *g*

For the record, we will not be ordering angel hair pasta with artichokes and spinach again.
