When one goes to a familiar restaurant, it is often tempting to order "the usual", secure in the knowledge that the dish which arrives at the table will be palatable, if not delicious. Occasionally one might feel adventurous and order something different in the hopes of finding a new favorite. One must remember, however, that along with the prospect of discovering something delightful, there is also the chance of discovering something horrific.
For the record, we will not be ordering angel hair pasta with artichokes and spinach again. *shudder*
As for
Tuesday Television...
Bones - Continues to amuse. Not quite sure what to make of a FOX show referencing Firefly, but it worked for the characters so I'll let it go. Zach and Jack have officially become likable characters. Just when I thought I couldn't like Angela any more than I already do, first there's the beautiful Christmas tree and then there's her ZZ Top father. Hee! Loved Goodman and Booth bonding. Loved both of them with their kids. Thought it was interesting that every character has some sort of religious leanings except Bones. Love that it's such an integral part of Booth's character. Snickered at Jack's "Jesus loves me too". I find it ironic that the title character is still the most consistently difficult to sympathize with and maintain that basing it on a real person who also happens to be one of the show's writers is not conducive to good storytelling. They need a better editor.
eta: Possible favorite scene? Goodman, Jack, and Zach debating the most mathematically efficient way of determining Secret Santa's... as Booth rolls his eyes at them while writing down everyone's names. I love how Angela just holds the bucket out for him. Not only does Goodman confirm that he is one of the squints after all, but that moment of sane-people solidarity between Booth and Angela is adorable.
House - Continues to amuse. Lots of great one-liners. Loved how people kept asking for opinions from people who utterly failed to give them the answers they wanted. Wilson all but snickering out loud at Foreman's hierarchy questions. Chase's equally amused snorting at Cameron's "why didn't she pick ME?" blithering. Would have been more impressed by Cameron's trick if I hadn't seen it on at least two other medical shows. (I've watched two other medical shows? How'd that happen?) And why aren't the other forty percent of the hospital's lawsuits about House too? The ethics on this show are mind-boggling. But oh so fun to watch.
Two best back-to-back hours of television I've seen in quite a while. Except for the whole artichoke/spinach thing, it was a perfect evening. :)
