MOVIE DAY, SHISUI. YOU KNOW THAT THAT MEANS. <3 crimson_prose February 22 2007, 04:24:02 UTC
Itachi thought that, if he were going to have contemplated skipping a day, today would've been the day to do it. All in all, things had started out normally and simply declined. But he knew he couldn't have afforded it, seeing that he'd missed the Valentine's Day class out of bitterness directed at Jiraiya and the literature proffessor's straightforward way of teaching and overanalysis of his words. (He didn't really care about the strange looks he'd gotten - he cared more about the teacher's style of headstrong inquiry, as if Itachi's writing were a frog that needed dissecting, and he'd needed air afterwards, badly enough to go home to get it.)

Practicals were all well and good in Itachi's mind, but they made it too easy for Orochimaru to scrutinize him, which he hated with a passion (the same heated passion with which he hated the serpent) so he was almost glad to be free of them. But at the same time, the last thing Itachi had ever liked to be was bored, and staring at a screen without moving for an hour seemed to him the most ( ... )

Shisui was leaning back in his chair, a vague rotation of his shoulders, before slinging an arm over the back of it, the other arm upon the desk with a pencil, notebook out for the obvious action of note taking, not that it was needed very much, considering the Uchiha usually tended to have notably good memory. (If not some what photographic.) But he likes to write, because otherwise outside school he has no need to write, and thinking about writing he thinks a little on Sasuke ("What do you want to be when you grow up?") and the whispy smile on his face does not change (as cold water cannot before warm water with only a drop of heat) and he does not sigh. A brow arched as Orochimaru speaks, laxing, talk in relation to genetics. To the family. ("What would I know?") The video whirls into play.

He glances over to Itachi. That one look asking almost- (amused, bemused, there was no difference, and eh eholds the pencil higher, no longer leaning in his chair, arms braced upon the desk) bored already? And Itachi's eyes have already been on ( ... )

ALL THE GOOD STUFF BABY. ALLLL THE GOOD STUFF. crimson_prose February 22 2007, 09:21:13 UTC
Itachi takes his own spiral and curves the dark blue cover back across the thin cardboard backcover with a small sound in his throat, something half bored and hald inquisitive, as if he's about to really think about something. He sets the book down afront him, and looks at the college-ruled binder paper which glows a light blue. (He hasn't missed Shisui's notice, and his cousin's smile has given him a strange idea.) He folds his arms across his chest a second and then goes back into his book bag for a pen ( ... )

No one talks and it's authoritive fear, nothing like learning to freshen young minds up when they hardly liked to do so at all. It's almost eerie, indistinct, not fresh, but heavy and old and Shisui writes nothing, the replacement and defect. Perhaps he too wanted to say ("Boring-") and he's out of tea, cap, uncapped but bottle empty. It is a horrid period full of lessons already learned, but not taught. He'd check to see what Orochimaru was doing right now, but it's not that he doesn't care, it's just that he does not care enough. Instead he glances about the room, it not dark enough, and the light from screen is noiseless, and the video whirling in the VCR seems louder than the sound from the actual film. (Again ( ... )

Darling, I hate to point this out, but-
"Today we will be studying the food chain. Open your Biology textbooks to page 230, no talking! It does not take your vocal chords to open a book!" He wrote the first line of a food chain on the board. "Now, in all food chains, we begin with vegetation. Plantlife. Then you get herbivores," he drew the second level of a food web on the board. "Then primary carnivores. Secondary carnivores and, if necessary, tertiary carnivores." He wrote the rest of the food chain on the board. "It is not a difficult concept to grab, an idiot could do it. Now read the extra notes your textbook gives and complete the questions."

...The food chain starts with the sun. ._.;'

I just thought I should point that out, so I can feel smart so Itachi doesn't bitch!slap you with himself.

It was with a softer and quieter look than usual that Sai slid into Sophomore Science, seeming completely obedient and mute as the lesson began, ignoring the irritating sting still shooting up his spine every now and again when he moved. (He'd given up bringing his backpack to school lately, carrying all his books in his arms or Art folder).

He managed to avoid flinching as the bruise on his right arm shot pain through his body again, glad for the school uniform hiding the marks from...that night. His skin was paler as he suppressed the pain, taking out a pen and some paper, smiling blankly at the person handing him the handout before getting to work.

This work was too advanced for their class, and he could tell it, but he said nothing, just working. Concentrating.

The facts, as they were, should be surprising to Orochimaru, that Sai was working. But the life as it was, and therefore giving him more aquired knowledge about the demeanour of the lone boy meant that Sai's submissive behaviour and tentative actions caused nothing more than a small raise of the brows and a curl of the lips into a knowing smirk as his eyes flicked over Sai's body, watching the slightly laboured movements.

It was true. There was no need to talk when opening a book. But Hinata, the thought crossing her mind, flickering like sapphire- if they could not talk and he was telling them to open their books why did he have to talk- and it was thoughts like this that led to argumentive students. Eruption. And Hinata, as if Orochimaru could read her thoughts, tucked her nose in to the book guilty-like, ears alert and listening while she tried to not allow her mind to have further rebellious (because that's what they were?) thoughts. She was the student and the student was there before a teacher to learn. When she is done reading she takes out a piece of paper and her pencil. The charm on it dangling, a small bell. And she thinks perhaps she should not have brought out theat pencil in the mindset that it could disturb someone.

The charm catches his attention and Orochimaru looks up from the paper he is writing on, hand continuing to glide the cartridge across the lines in mindless planning as his golden eyes focused on the pencil and the girl. He made no sound or motion, merely staring at her in that way reserved for the sadistic hunter towards his prey as he asked them whether they wanted to take the chance to run.

Kabuto was used to the hard workthat Orochimaru gave them, although he was a bit surprised. He said nothing as the new textbooks were handed out, and quietly began reading the assigned work, taking careful notes.

There was a strain in the class, a tension that was more obvious whenever he looked up at Orochimaru. Something had changed in the dynamic of thier relationship, and Kabuto didn't have to wonder very much what that was. Although how a meaningless fling could come between a teacher and a student was beyond Kabuto's understanding.

God help him, he was actually a little upset.

Kabuto was sure though, that it was nothing, that this was a passing issue, and that things would right themselves, eventually. After all, Kabuto was loyal to Orochimaru, no matter what.

Orochimaru's talent as a teacher happened to be maintaining a perpetual air of annoyance, the look of a serpent that had found a particularly delicious meal given to every student that attempted to flout a rule. Those who knew him well enough could tell when the dangerous air was more than just his daily irritation, and today that air definitely crossed the line.

He leaned back in the chair at the front of the classroom, holding a textbook up high enough to shield the majority of his face from the class, eyes scanning the room rather than the words he had already memorised. They narrowed as they caught the gaze of Kabuto, whether as a warning for him to get back to work, or something more was debatable.

Kabuto raised his eyebrow atthe stare, and of course, said nothing. He could, of course, apperciarte the fact that Orochimaru was upset overhis class being interrupted, however the fact that the line so carefully tred between daily annoyance and actual anger had actually been crossed was something to be alarmed at.

And that look on Orochimaru's face. . . Kabuto was certain something was amiss.

Going back to work, he told himself that it was nothing, that he would talk to his sensei after class and get it sorted out.

(The anger was not directed at him, was it?)

And this is where Nicole is sad that Sai and Kabuto are not in the same year. aurumophio February 24 2007, 15:44:38 UTC
Seeming a little more pleased that Kabuto had returned to his work, Orochimaru kept his eyes on the boy for a few more moments, that impression that he would be watching burning from them before he returned his inattentions to the book in hand.

((...IHAVEANIDEA. This cannot be good.))
