When I paid online for the camera, I put in my CC info and pressed submit, but the session had timed out, so I had to do it over. Little did I know that they'd held the purchase amount ($279.99) twice. Fine, I can deal with that 'cause I have enough to cover it. I figured that the second hold of $279.99 would disappear when they received the ( Read more... )

I mostly do that too, but I figured it would be a simple question to answer. *sigh*

*sighs* The sad thing is, it's not just the bank. Half the time cashiers can't give you the right change without looking at the readout on the cash register anymore. -_-;;

I'm guilty of depending on the cash register readout too. But that's often because you're trying to go quickly either to get to the next person, or because the customer is trying to catch their train which leaves in 3 minutes (I guess this one applies to me more specifically because I worked in -- literally -- Grand Central Station).

But that's not to say that if someone was asking me a question specifically about my account that I wouldn't be able to do simple math in my head (or on the computer calculater, for cripes' sake)! And from the way she was practically desperate for me to fill out an "Error In Billing" form, I get the feeling that I know more about how the whole holding funds thing works than she does. =/

AOL, E-Bay, Fed-Ex, UPS, they all have had me jump through hoops just so they can tell me what I've told them a million and one times...We needs a severe technological breakdown so that people will be forced to get smarter or die....

There's an idea.

Or, if we could only somehow stop letting the republicans take over tone down the power of big business and massive rapid low-wage turnovers and actually get people who have had training and know what the hell they're paid to help customers with. (i.e., "I don't know, sorry; I just work here.")

Yeah, that'll never happen either. ^_~;
