:) firstly, groundhog day is on Feb. 2nd. Secondly, I kind of like arbitrary days for celebration. I don't like to celebrate the earth turning, since I don't really follow it at all. I mean, it feels hypocritical in this day and age, where I go from one climate-controlled environment to another, to celebrate the turning of seasons.

I'm also a more selfish person in some ways. I like some of the holidays, I like giving thanks for things, and atoning for sins, and celebrating the new year (in September, which is my new year anyway). I like to honor groups of people at different times, and celebrate freedom from oppression on others.

*shrug* Arbitrary holidays are good; they give me a deadline for celebrating things, otherwise I'd forget to be thankful for things. Or something.
