Crash was a MUCH better movie from every angle. Brokeback Mountain was *simply* an unremarkable, plodding, slow-moving relationship movie, and nothing more. So unremarkable is this film that I think the ONLY real interest in it was because of the subject matter. That doesn't make a good film by itself. Apparently the criteria for "good" movie solely rests on subject matter, because I didn't see a GOOD tale told here. Put a hetero-relationship in this VERY same movie, it'd never have been noticed by the public. Yawn.

Also, Heath Ledger's acting was narcotic and thoroughly BORING. I think it'd been better if he didn't mumble his lines constantly.. no, that's probably not it. It'd been a better if they had a good actor in his place. At least Donnie Darko can act. :)

I was feeling bad that I couldn't see Brokeback (on account of Utahness) but now I'm less troubled. I really only see about four movies a year (eight if you count rentals); I need honest reviews like this to make sure my scant contact with The Outside World is not wasted on mediocre product.
