She really hadn't meant to cause any kind of upheaval.

Everybody was being very nice about it, and, as the young captain had said, it wasn't as if anyone made the choice to be accidentally transported into another universe thanks to an equipment malfunction.

As Kirk had promised, quarters had been found, shifts arranged. She was established. It ( Read more... )

Pasha had finally been able to tear herself away from Emma's 'novel'- she had scolded herself at the time for calling it such, really it was nothing more then badly disguised smut with a poor storyline- and her thoughts to try and be sociable. For the first time in a long while she hadn't felt like running and had decided on finding a rec room instead.

Walking into the communal area she assessed the seating situation. Sitting with the wrong people with Starfleet was not unlike sitting with the wrong people in school. Deciding of a friendly looking woman she marched over and a placed a tentative smile on her face. “Excuse me, if you vould not mind, could I sit vith you, please?”

Uhura burst out laughing.

"Oh, I wish I could tell that to our Hikaru. I always did say something was going to get him in the night, if he went on spending all his spare time in botany."

Pasha gave a lopsided grin. "Prehaps it is a story that all little Hikaru Sulus should be told to scare them vhen they are little. Vould not be half as fun though." Although she might have joked she was glad Hikaru was here.

Uhura nodded. "No...if anyone had told him, you wouldn't have him with you, would you?"

Pasha did look very young. "It can't have been nice if you were on your own before."

"Ah, that is a good point you make Miss Uhura." Pasha agreed. "I hawe been wery lucky, howewer, I hawe made many good friends here. They hawe kept me good company during my time here."

Well, that was something, at any rate.

"They do seem friendly" she said, head tilted to one side slightly as she spoke. "What is it you do, exactly? Are you navigator on this ship too?"

"Da. On my Enterprise, I am the Cheif Nawigator." Pasha told her, smiling. "I take it that this means that your Chekov is also a nawigator?"

"Oh, yes." She smiled. "Sits on the bridge with me. He's Chief Navigator, too. And he's only twenty-two."

She surveyed Pasha closely. "How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?"

Jadedly Pasha smiled. "Sewenteen. Howewer I am Eighteen wery soon. A matter of veeks infact." Age was only a number after all.

Uhura was unsurprised. Even in her own universe, Pavel had entered the Academy several years early. And everybody on this ship was comparatively younger than the personnel on her own.

She nodded. "Well," she said, helpfully, "I'd probably have put you at nineteen or twenty."

The girl brightened considerably. "Really?" She grinned. "Normally I am told I look about fourteen." Pasha noted with a tint of annoyance affecting her tone.

Uhura raised an eyebrow. "Honestly?"

She took a step back, and looked Pasha up and down with a critical eye. "I think you carry yourself far too confidently for that. Not to mention your face has refined itself already. You're very pretty. You're girlish, but not childish."

“Eh, T-thank you.” Pasha stuttered, she could feel the heat radiating from her blush before she could stop herself from colouring with embarrassment. She never had been able to take compliments gracefully or been able to handle being scrutinised. “That is wery kind of you to say so.”

"Not at all," said Uhura, smiling at the girl's blush. She was very - her mind skirted the word 'cute', but decided against it - endearing. Uhura felt fond of her already.

"If you do not mind me asking, Miss Uhura, are your Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu friends aboard your Enterprise?” Pasha’s curiosity had been piqued past the point of her common sense- a normal enough occurrence. From what she had experienced in this universe the Chekov and Sulu had been best friends and eventually more, she was beginning to wonder if this was a corresponding pattern through out the universes.
