It had been good of him, to come down here to see her specially. That was certainly a Jim-trait, the capacity for a personal touch to every professional relationship, although she had no doubt he was very busy.
She held out her hand for him to shake. "Thank you. For sorting me out. I really didn't mean to show up out of the blue like this. If you want to put me on shift, I can do whatever you like, whenever. Better than wandering about feeling like I'm in everybody's way."

He took her hand and shook it firmly, meeting her eyes with a smile. "No need to thank me. I want to know all of my officers, this universe or not. Transporter malfunctions have been happening for a while now... not just another universe to this but this to other ones... and other things have been going on."
Like turning a bunch of them into kids. Or women.

There was a sudden note of strangeness in his voice. Something was bothering him. She had better go.
"Well," she said, "I'm sure there's a lot that requires your attention. I'll get out of your way. Thanks again."
She smiled at him, nodded to the doctor, and left them alone.
